Uh, so hey...
I really haven't created a "big discussion" in quite some time. However, the more and more I continue to literally sit here mute in a sense, I have really seen some stuff that I really don't understand why it is happening. I mean, I do, but I don't. With that said I just wanted to vent just a little bit. I'm not picking sides, and I'm not going to rant about iOldCP or OldCP simply because I feel like those topics are irrelevant when it comes to the big picture. If you feel like reading this discussion go ahead, but please only reply properly, I would love to stay away from any drama, thanks!
Ok so first off, since I've been evaluating things for such a long time I have found it easy to notice the massive schism within this community. Surely there has always been some sort of divide in this community, but not like there is today. I feel like we all have really just drifted away from one another. Surely we all have groups of friends that we continuously communicate with, but we're lacking community values and simple communication between "superiors", none-superiors, and every-day users. Why? I've asked myself this question multiple times to be entirely honest, but I continue to get different answers. However, here's why I believe this community is divided...
Those are just a few things I believe are entirely dividing this community, and I would love to go in-depth more about everything but it is literally 3:46 AM where I live, and I felt the urge to just write something to get the message going. I find it silly that we're fighting over things that really don't matter when you step back and look at everything that really needs to get fixed. And surely you're probably wondering why I'm even putting in my opinion because I'm not entirely that active, but I would just like to say that I love this community. I wouldn't trade my time here for the world, and I really do cherish everyone here.
Before I conclude this small rant I would like to point out a couple of things. First I would like to say that none of us are higher than one another. We're all equal and that's how it should be. The ranks on here should be given out with care and actual analysis. We all need to click our profiles, click "discussions" and go to the last page and read forward. We will then notice that we all came here delighted to be here, excited to spread out a voice on here and try our best to become something on here. Just for one moment can we all take a simple step back and see that none of us were ever perfect, we have just got so accustomed to this. For anyone who has a rank, or did have a rank, think about the day you first earned your rank. How did you earn it, and why did you earn it? Think about that for a moment. How did this rank make you feel, and how did it make other people feel? Just think for a moment...
Questions: Answer these questions, I hope they spark some memories...
Now you don't have to answer these questions in the comments below, but you can if you'd like to. I'll post mine later on as an edit. I really just want these questions to really make you think back. Perhaps these questions will make you happy, angry, or perhaps even sad. Regardless I believe it is always best to think back. That is all. I would love to see this community begin to work together instead of away from one another. It is 100% possible I'm sure of that. Anyways, it is now 4:00 AM and I'm pretty tired. I hope all of you have a fantastic morning, and thanks for reading.
Always and forever,
Sadie

Surely we all have groups of friends that we continuously communicate with, but we're lacking community values and simple communication between "superiors", none-superiors, and every-day users. Why? I've asked myself this question multiple times to be entirely honest, but I continue to get different answers. However, here's why I believe this community is divided...
- Ranks: Currently wherever you go on here ranks are everywhere, you have people obtaining ranks without putting much compassion into them. Now, of course, I understand people sometimes apply for ranks, fight for ranks (jousts or whatever), but do they really understand the ranks in which they're running for? Back when I first joined this community ranks weren't very plentiful, to say the least. You really had to work for ranks and show that you not only wanted the rank but you 100% understood all the requirements of the rank to fulfill it. I genuinely feel like this community lacks compassion and individuals who really do care about who we promote. This isn't a problem to do with the users or staff, but likely more than anything it has to do with the people in charge of being able to promote people.
- Growing Up: We're all growing up, some of us are way older than other people on here, but regardless we're all beginning to get older and mature. With all of us becoming older we begin to change a lot. We begin to pick sides, support sides, and construct opinions around certain things to ensure that whatever we believe in is to be correct and make sure it is properly defended. Many of the adults on here can probably understand things from a reasonable point of view, and I'm not saying that nobody but adults can see this, but I can honestly tell you that the older individuals on here are probably thinking about real life events and happenings (e.g. college debt, work, school...) so they really don't have the time to fully dive into things perhaps like they once did before.
- Not Admitting Our Faults: This is probably the biggest reason for our massive divide. As we continue to play on here and communicate on here we always run into small issues. Half the time we totally stick to our idea of being correct. However, sometimes we're wrong and that is completely okay. In order for us to learn anything we really need to fail. Falling down and getting back up will probably teach you a more valuable lesson rather than just falling down, sticking with the idea of being right, and continuing on with our lives. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and acknowledge that we're not always right.
- Not Working Together: I would have to say that this tops the cake. I've noticed that we're not all working together as we should. Instead, you have groups of people who work together without expanding out to the community. For example, you have people on OldCP strictly playing on OldCP and supporting it. Then you have people on iOldCP supporting that, and just sticking to that community. With all of these side groups and what not - where do we have the room to come together? Where would we come together? I feel like the only realistic place we can all come together lately is on this community forum. Not all of us play OldCP, and not all of us play iOldCP, but many of us share this community. We really need to work on coming together as a whole community and notice the wrongs and the rights. We need to speak out about what we want to keep and eliminate the things we don't want, and if we can't come to an agreement we need to at least try to combine ideas.
- Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not?
- What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank?
- What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it?
- What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why?
- If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why?
- How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now?
- Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why?
- What made you come back had you of answered yes to the above question?
- Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay?
- If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.)
- When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered?
- Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you?
- Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you?
- Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right?
- Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community. How did it make you feel back then, and what does it make you feel like now?

Another plastic surgery related post from an absolute joke of a moderator!
As for the "joke of a moderator" part of your response, I do occasionally like a nice joke. But then again, whatever you consider me to be, look who has consistently remained within the DSGHQ/OldCP staff team since 2013 - and who is continuous with training individuals to be fabulous staff. Now I'm not sure what you consider to be a joke, but in my opinion, I consider myself a fine aged wine sweetie.

What year did you join OldCP and/or this community?
What was your first username, why did you pick this username?
· i joined in 2015, and my first username was KaylinStoll1. at the time, i was obsessed with the percy jackson series, so that's why i chose that name.
Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not?
· i really don't remember the first person i spoke to, since i didn't really ever talk to anyone, but if i dig into my brain a bit, i think it was sg. i'm fairly sure everyone on here knows of my current relationship with him, but to confirm for those who don't: we are dating.
What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank?
· i don't think i even had a goal, but i just know i applied for war knight at some point and i never got it though many people supported me for it. so i'd say i more so came here to make friends, since i'm so much more social online than i am in real life.
What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it?
· by far, my favorite memory is more recent, but it's still a memory. it was when i first returned to oldcp after about half a year or so, i was given queen of dorval (courtesy of sg, ofc). when i think about it, i smile, like i actually SMILE.
What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why?
· i wish i never went through my cringe fest phase, because good god that was the worst time of my life.
If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why?
· i don't have an opinion on this.
How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now?
· when i first joined, i was 11, about to turn 12, i do believe. now, i'm 16, about to be 17 in August.
Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why?
What made you come back had you of answered yes to the above question?
· i've taken multiple breaks, and i've quit at least twice. i needed breaks so i could bring my grades in school up, and the reasons i quit were quite honestly a bit personal, and probably shouldn't be said here. i won't go into too much detail, but the main reason i quit in 2018, was because someone was basically cyberbullying me (on oldcp, deviantart, and even quotev (a site i use A LOT)). back then, i ended up deleting my deviantart account at the time (it was fightingsteel). i only came back at some point because i was given queen of dorval.
Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay?
· i stay because even though there are some mean people here, the nicer ones make the experience well worth the stay.
If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.)
· i wouldn't change a thing, this community is like another home to me.
When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered?
· i'd like to be remembered as someone who apsired to be a therapist despite their addiction to anime.
Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you?
· yes but i'd rather not tell anyone about it since it's embarrassing.
Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you?
· yes, it was during the whole cyberbullying incident that i mentioned earlier. they made me smile and feel better.
Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right?
· that happens a lot, so i can't exactly say no here.
Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community. How did it make you feel back then, and what does it make you feel like now?
· i joined this community because i wanted to make friends since i was unable to in real life, my anime addiction always drove people off. back then, i felt that i could make some friends, and i actually did. now, i feel like i could've made a few better choices in who i became friends with back then (ie. frogs was never a true friend.)

I am so glad I stumbled across this discussion again, I feel like it still holds some much value to even the DSGHQ of today. The responses, I love them! I only wish that more people commented and answered the above questions, would've been fascinating to read them.

Please don't lock this discussion, it's actually meaningful and interactive, thanks.
What year did you join OldCP and/or this community?
I joined OldCP in April 2013 and I joined the forums on the first day it came out.
What was your first username, why did you pick this username?
My first OldCP username was Bailey2000, kinda self-explanatory. My first forums username was HipHop because I took HipHop dance classes as a kid and liked it. Eventually I changed to Chucker321 because that was my original Club Penguin username, don't ask. Then I changed to Bailey because it's my irl name and I like to be referred to as my real name.
Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not?
The first person I spoke to on OldCP was someone dressed exactly like Rockhopper. I asked how they did that and they told me, but I don't remember their username and haven't spoken to them since, unfortunately. I don't remember who the first person I spoke to on the forums was.
What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank?
My first goal was to definitely earn Moderator when I found out about it. I think I asked how to get it repeatedly in the xat chat below OldCP and then got banned.
What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it?
My favorite memory I've had on here was probably meeting you, though I don't remember how the interaction went. It makes me feel pretty good and I'm incredibly grateful considering how far into the relationship we're in is. I love you. Another memory I liked was getting OldCP Moderator for the first time in early 2014 (February or March). Another would be getting World Champion on Snaildom in Autumn 2014. There's many more but overall just meeting people and getting to talk to them was and is pretty nice.
What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why?
Honestly, just oversharing information that did not need to be said that ended up getting backlash really annoys me, and I regret doing that considering someone made a YouTube video about it that I refuse to fully watch... and this was last year. Also, probably allowing myself to get triggered so easily at things that did not matter at the time when I was younger. I've gotten better, but I still get triggered a little sometimes and I just try to not show it.
If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why?
Definitely mid-late 2013 to all of 2014. In my opinion, that was the best. The amount of people that were active at the time definitely helped with my reasoning, although that's not the full reason. It's overall just very nostalgic looking back at old posts, especially.
How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now?
I was 12 when I joined and now I'm 21. The numbers literally just flipped.
Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why?
Yup, I took a two month break from November 2013 then came back January 2014 after getting IP-banned on OldCP and the forums. I definitely wasn't very active at other points too, especially mid-late 2016, I did not like that year in the community.
What made you come back had you of answered yes to the above question?
Probably FOMO, or fear of missing out. I wish I fully knew why.
Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay?
Honestly, I don't know. I'm just too emotionally attached to this small community where everyone knows each other.
If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.)
Definitely the amount of activity and people we get online on the daily. Nowadays, we get at most around 10-12 people. Back then it was probably 40-50 people on the forums and way more on OldCP.
When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered?
This one's hard. I definitely had my fair share of not so-good moments, and everyone can agree on that if they've been here for a while. I just wanna be remembered as the gay guy who's obsessed with Dance Moms- just kidding, I'm already known for that. I wanna be remembered as someone who enjoys talking to people once I'm comfortable with them, and also that I'm pretty chill and open-minded overall, in my opinion. Also, MAYBE funny? Funny but without trying.
Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you?
Uhh, no. I have a pretty bad memory. I'm sure there's many moments, I just can't think of any other than right now in the group chats on discord when I have a question.
Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you?
Other than the first person I ever spoke to on OldCP on how to become a mascot, no.
Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right?
This has definitely happened, but I just can't remember.
Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community. How did it make you feel back then, and what does it make you feel like now?
I BELIEVE it was because I found "oldcp vs newcp" videos on YouTube, and then searched oldcp on Google and found the OldCP website. I'm honestly grateful that I did that at 12 years old, and I wouldn't change a thing. As Luke said, I can't imagine what my life would be like without this place.

Just 'cuz Bailey replied, I'll answer the questions too.
What year did you join OldCP and/or this community?
I joined the community in 2013, when I was nine (oml), but was on and off for a while until I officially decided to stay in 2015.
What was your first username, why did you pick this username?
I remember the username being LimenLime. Not so sure why I picked that username, I was a child when I made this decision. I kept changing names constantly until I settled with StoryB[ooth] (yes.. like the YouTube channel). I kept that username until in 2017 I found the name 'Narcissa', which is actually a type of flower. Got made fun of by Gamer because it sounded a lot like the word narcissistic. Most people know me by 'Narcissa', but I changed my name recently to Elyse, which is the name I go by almost everywhere other than at home.
Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not?
The first person I remember speaking to was actually Milkshake! I don't remember the interaction much because it was so long ago but I asked her for help (I believe it was about armor) and she was so kind to answer me. Unfortunately, Milkshake and I are not friends
What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank?
I joined thinking OldCP was the same as Disney's Club Penguin, so my intention was to make friends and have fun. But over time, after experiencing the game a bit more, I developed the goal of earning a ranking such as Moderator or Penguin Watch (never happened on OldCP).
What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it?
It would be with Randy and @Rila. We were in /jr pinapple (spelled like that on purpose) and someone comes up to Rila (she was a mod then) and says "want to see my igloo?" and Rila being the nice person she is said of course. I followed her 'cuz it could've been a trap (experienced player things, you guys could never) and the user showed Rila a very, uh, specific image painted on the floor of their igloo with snowballs. Rila, innocently said something along the lines of "nice tree!", and Randy & I lost it. Every time I think about this, it makes me laugh.
What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why?
I wish I wasn't so eager to satisfy people. One scenario ended up with me losing a lot of my friends because I decided to listen to a certain someone and cuss all of them out. I felt awful afterwards and even though they (probably, I hope) forgave me, I felt guilty weeks after it happened. But it made me value my friends more. I dropped the person who 'made me do it' (they didn't make me do it, but I felt very pressured) and never spoke to them again.
If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why?
Well, my favorite era was the Drac era. I was first introduced to 'evil CZ' by SG while Dracs were still known as siths. As time went on, I created bonds with a lot of the other so-called 'evil' users. One of my favorite friendships that came out of that was with SG.
How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now?
I joined when I was nearly 10 years old. I'm now 17 and graduating this June!
Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why?
All the time. It was mainly because I wasn't allowed to talk to people online so I would go offline for months and then return when I felt like my parents won't catch me. But recently it's been because of school and my social life changing.
Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay?
I grew up with this community. Ever interaction I had has an impact on me, whether it's good or bad. Yes, the community was toxic, but it didn't really matter because I considered this community my second family.
If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.)
How problems and problematic people should be handled. I feel as though punishments were definitely biased and some people deserved less than 100000 (approximately) chances.
When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered?
Not sure, I just want to be remembered in a good way and not as someone who put people down, because there were times that I did hurt people but I've grown and I want to be able to make up for that.
Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you?
Other than Damen helping me with my stolen gold, not really.
Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you?
She didn't literally help me out, but @Rila inspired me to be the best version of myself. Kind to everyone, regardless of their opinions on me.
Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right?
@Gamer lol. He kept reminding me people would lose respect for me if I kept on the path of being 'evil'. I didn't want to believe him so I told him just that. Definitely should have listened to Gamer. PSA: Always listen to Gamer.
Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community. How did it make you feel back then, and what does it make you feel like now?
I don't remember why I came across OldCP & DSGHQ but I don't regret it. Back then I felt so involved and because of all the friendships I made, I felt heard when I needed to come to these people for advice with my life problems. Now it just makes me feel nostalgic.
This community will always play a significant part in my life as I learned so many lessons that I will apply into my everyday life. One thing that I learned was confidence. If you put StoryB, Narcissa and myself side by side, they would be three complete different people. I'm glad you guys gave me a chance to grow and I can't imagine how my life would be if I never stumbled upon DSGHQ. < 3
