Peasant to Rich
I slid to my cracked, olden shell as my stomach grumbled, beckoning for food.I knew I had to eat something soon, so desperately, I checked a trash can for food. All there was, was a simple bite of a burger.I devoured it, mouth watering as I gulped it down.Cold, I quickly scurried into my home.I was too sad to stay up, so I just went to bed.
The next morning, I woke up to a warm sight.A snail that looked very rich, in Snaildom, in my very kitchen!I slid over to him and asked him for his name.
"That doesn't matter, but It's Charles." The man said.
He told me he was going to retire, and wanted to donate to a charity. He looked down on me and smiled. His choice was me.
"I've seen you before, young one.Scurrying the streets alone, cold, desperate for food. You've been very busy my lad." Charles quietly spoke in a comforting voice.
Soon enough, he had a very big meal.Wine, bread rolls with butter, soup, and my favorite, Toblerone. He presented the grand me to the both of us to enjoy, together. This time was the best of my life. The food was delicious, and I was full very soon.Charles then told me he would give me half his fortune, to help me.I was grateful, for once in my life, I felt comfort.
Now something else happened. He told me that he once lived the same life I did.And a man came to him too.Somebody to help him, and let him thrive.I smiled and looked up at him.
"Thank you," I managed to spit out."Thank you so much!"
"No need to thank," came the reply, "I will always be there for you, my young one.
Charles bid me good day, tipped his hat and opened the door. Then he paused.
"I almost forgot! What is your name lad?" Charles said comfortably.
"My name?My name is Duke." I replied to Charles happily.
He just nods, and leaves my shell. My cracked, broken old home. And I know, that he did the right thing. He knew too.Except one thing.I slid out my home as fast I could manage, and caught Charles.
"Take this," I said.
It was the gold I gave him that day.He nods at me, signifying I played it right. And I know immediately, that this was the choice he made with the old man once.Wealth doesn't matter, its the gifts that people give that matters. Now he takes off his outfit, and is a peasant! We became friends, from then, and our friendship thrived. That was the biggest part of my life, and I still remember it crystal clear.
