Thank you for your ideas. And this is kinda outdoor game world, but 'Plazas' and 'Towns' are awfully familiar! Don't worry, I'll make shops, and places to visit. Remember 3d worlds can be allot like real life, so it won't be hard to find something to do.

Regarding 'green' snails. It will be possible to change your 'shell' to different shells. As for your skin, I might look into finding a way to do skin paints on the snail. Either way I look forward to turning this into a multiplayer game. I can make items easily enough to I suppose! It is possible, I have done multiplayer game from scratch in unity before but never finished it. I won't be using SmartFoxServer to do it.

I say do it like the old snailschat, whatever is easiest.
