Hello,
As a lot of you may know, Damen recently created a new game called 'Snail Drop', and has been released on the App Store! In this post, I'm going to give Damen a review of the game.

'How to play'

The how to play section is one of the most important features of the game. To my opinion, the instructions have been written out successfully but simply, yet they are very effective. They give the player a clear example of how to play, and you won't have any confusion whilst playing. The images that you included also help you to understand what to look out for - what the objects look like. Very well done on that, great job!

Menu - Navigation.

Again, quite basic, but very effective. The 'How to play' section has been highlighted in green, improving navigation, but also directs the player showing you where to go once the app is first opened. The background fits in with the game well, and the logo fits at the top of the menu with ease; this makes it neat. I know, it's only the first version, but maybe add a moving background sometime in the future? That would make it a bit more interesting.

Game in general.

The game itself is addictive and fun, yet simple to use. It's a good example of a good 2D game, and shows what you can achieve without complicated programs; this can lead to a complicated game. The fact that the rocks you have to avoid are floating doesn't really matter else you won't be able to pass them without crashing - making it impossible to play. You can easily see what your score is without losing concentration, and you can tell how far you are from the ground. The parachute looks a bit like a speech bubble at the moment, I think that could be more detailed as time goes on. There's no pause button. I find this an essential part of gaming, and would save a bit of stress if added. If your on a streak, then you have to go and do something important, it's not like you can just pause and carry on later. I like the way that you fall further if you continue after a successful landing, it works really well and makes you want to carry on.

Controls.

Excellent controls, and simple to use! However, some devices sometimes aren't very sensitive, making it hard for your swipe to register. I suggest adding some arrows to press to steer, deploy the parachute and enter boost mode. They would have to be on each side: Up, down, left and right. A tilt function would make it a bit more fun.

Improvements.

These are the things I think could be added in/improved to the game.

- Possibly add a moving background in the future, that would be very effective.
- Maybe add some music, but with the option to turn it on or off.
- A better parachute would be nice. At the moment, it looks like a speech bubble. Maybe you could decorate it, or even make it wave in the wind.
- More controls such as: Tilt, keys to press.
- Maybe slow down the snail a tad once it's landing, it lands faster than it falls...
- On the 'Highscores' section, it would be best to add a scroll down feature as more and more scores will get submitted.
- Pause Button!!
Overall, you've done an outstanding job! I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. I'm looking forward to the future updates, best of luck! -Archie
