Welcome,
Earlier, I entered a local area network world on Minecraft Pocket Edition to find this weird glitch:
Notice how the world is sliced into equal pieces? It's really weird, it's obviously not supposed to be like that. The buildings were underground, everything was just messed up. Not all was bad though, it was pretty neat to explore!

I doubt it's that. A chunk is 16 by 16 blocks, and if a chunk doesn't load the whole area of the chunk doesn't appear. These breaks in the land aren't 16 blocks wide, plus you can't see straight down to the void - when an unloaded chunk appears, you can.

I think there was a glitch in the world you created. Or the world didn't load up properly.
