Herobrine? Well, I believe he is a character made by minecraft. He may be based on Steve, except more powerful and advanced and seen as a teacher to the mobs. Another theory is that he's a paranormal king that used to be Steve, or is made to look like Steve to kill others off by gaining the trust. -Christine7

He is, and kind of was Notch's brother. They were playing outside on a stormy day, and Brine was struck by lightning, and died. He was also struck by lightning in his grave. He got out of it, and changed his name to Herobrine. He now haunts and griefs innocent Minecraft Players. Don't worry, this isn't real life. It's just Minecraft.
