NOTE:
Well, I decided to write a story to explain the 'birth' and coming of the snail universe/snaildom and the world in which only snails live. This story is written in first-person by the founder of the snaildom universe. I havent read other stories, so hopefully no elements found in other stories are shown in this one. Not very long, but hey, gets my idea across.
Also, I may do some small edits here and there.

Edit: I posted an alt link for those of you who want to read with indents since apparently this format doesnt support it.
Enjoy.

A new world
--thisismyname

“He’s so tiny. I wonder what his world would be like, lookin’ up at big giants like us.” I said as I looked at snails that scattered the ground. It was a spring afternoon, and I sat outside during our lunch break. I always ate outside where there was no one around, I liked it that way. I was never one to make friends or socialize with people; I always lived in my own world, and was often ridiculed for it. There was a time where I used to trust people and become their friends, but every time I did that, they’d turn their backs on me and join the growing crowd of those who were against me. It didn’t take too long before I avoided people at all costs.

Bugs though, bugs couldn’t hurt you like people do, and they are so tiny, perhaps that’s why I have such an interest in them. I’d collect the hollow snail shells, or try to catch the butterflies, but I’d never kill them. It’s weird really, but it’s my form of entertainment, and I prefer them over human beings. I continued to stare at the ants that crawled on the ground below and the snails that slowly slugged across the ground. Their world must seem so much bigger, so much more adventure.

I looked up from the ground. I heard footsteps. Why? Why would someone be out here, no one eats outside, I’m not even sure if it’s allowed. The footsteps grew louder. Did someone find out I’ve been eating out here? After several seconds o the footsteps came to a halt, and in front of me stood a man, decades older then I. He wore odd clothing and had eyes that shined a bright orange. I've never seen this man before, what is it he could want?

“Say,” he said, looking down into my eyes “have you ever dreamed of another world? A place, completely different from this world, where everything is possible? You’ve probably heard those old legends about different worlds besides ours, right?”
“Uhm.. uhm.. sure” I stuttered.
“I’ve dreamt of those worlds too. A place built by my imagination, where anything and everything can happen. Unfortunately for me, I’ve never been able to make those worlds a reality. But, for you, it might just be possible.”
“Huh.. what.. what are you saying?”
“I’m saying you could leave this world, boy, and make a new one. I know you hate it here. I’ve been observing you, and it seems like you’re ready to give up this world.”
“Give up..this world?”
“Yup, you can go ahead and create a new world, a place made of your imagination, but you’ll lose this world, the connection to it, and any memories of it. Family, friends, anything. It’ll be gone, and you’ll never be able to come back to this world.”
“I’d have to abandon this world, huh? But.. for me, it really doesn’t seem that much of a loss. But still.. to lose my family and memories, it’d be pretty tragic.”
“It’s up to you. In this new world, you can create anything, and make it the way you want. You seem like you have a tough time here, so I thought maybe you can make a new place in which you do belong.”
“Create anything..?”
“Yep! Quite amazing, huh?”
“I suppose so.. I don’t have much to lose.. and an idea of a new world that I made? It’s.. unbelievable, I think… I think I’ll do it.”

We both stood there in silence as the old man ruffled through his bag. I don’t know what it was, but I felt like I could believe him, that he wasn’t lying. He seemed trustworthy, and somehow he knew that I didn’t fit in with this world. Did someone send him?

“Well,” he said “I think you made a proper choice. All there is left to do now is hand you the key, and you’ll be off on your way.”
“The key?”
“It’s the tool to creating a brand new world. Everyone who I recruit is given a key which allows them the power to create. Only very few people are capable of using it, after all, not everyone can make a world of their dreams.”
“Interesting. Who are you anyway?”
“I suppose it isn't bad for you to know,” he responded as he pulled stuff out of his bag that looked quite odd.“You see, I am a recruiter. In other words, I have the ability to give people with proper criteria a key to a new world. I can jump between worlds as well. As for my name, I’m afraid I cannot reveal that. A Recruiters true identity is very important.
“Anyways, I think it’s about time. Boy, take a good look around you. This is the last you’ll see of this world. From here on out it’s all different.” He tossed me a giant key that was about as long as the lower portion of my arm. It was painted a powerful gold color and had many strange engravings in it. Around the key flew odd orbs of purple light. What were these things?
He told me to go ahead and take the key and hold it out in front of me. After doing so, he put goggles that matched my key on my head.
“Things are gonna get tough out there,” he said as he began to do a strange motion with his hands “Your best bet is to not worry. Good luck.”
I caught a glimpse of his face before everything faded to blackness.
---
I woke up blurry-eyed to see that my surroundings have completely changed. Instead of seeing the school’s courtyard, I now saw a vast land of trees. In this land of trees crawled many, many snails, who didn’t look at all tiny. It wasn’t because they were huge or I was small, it was because of the fact that I myself have become a snail as well.

There happened to be no humans around, but only snails, lots of snails. Humans were nonexistent here. This is the world my imagination made. A world of snails,
A snaildom.
