I have seen a post about Herobrine recently that was pretty much a lie that encouraged others to lie about it as well.

Herobrine is myth. Nothing real. It all started from a video that was supposed to scare some people. Notch liked it, and started putting '-Removed Herobrine' at the end of every changelog since 1.6 beta. He isn't real, I have gone in the version right before 1.6 beta, and stayed there a lot of time. No Herobrine. I have checked every single version of Minecraft from every single platform (no, not just the game. The game files) and no, no Herobrine whatsoever. No line reading Herobrine, no texture no nothing. The only Herobrine is in the Herobrine mod, and that's it.

So now that you know, don't get scared or pranked by anyone about Herobrine!

I agree Herobrine is a myth he was made on minecraft but never actually showed but he did show on herobrine mod so no herobrine like you said +1

I have 2 things that herobrine is:

A myth/creepypasta made up to scare minecraft players.
A user putting viruses into the game making creepy attack scenes happen. They then say 'herobrine' is the attacker even though he isn't real.

i think notch and jeb should do an update for halloween and put herobrine in the game and it will scare the crud out of people

I have only heard about Herobrine. He is some virus in the game and has not appeared since. The only you you can become or look like Herobrine is to change your skin, hack the game, or use the Herobrine mod. No Herobrine is not real while something strange happens my brother is like "HEROBRINE DID IT" He is some virus and is just like Slender. +1
