This question is often debated in reality. Personally, I think the answer is fairly obvious. However, you'd be surprised as to how many people think too hard about it!

Reasons why I think they're cakes:

1. The clue's in the name, 'Jaffa Cakes'.

2. I once experimented whilst eating a Jaffa Cake. I ate off all the chocolate and orange jelly, leaving just the base in my hand. I discovered that the base to all Jaffa Cakes are pure sponge cake, making Jaffa Cakes cakes.

3. Cakes are better than bicuits.

Personally, I have never tried a Jaffa Cake. But, personally I think it's more of a cake. A biscuit is bread, in my opinion.

They may be biscuit sized, but they're still cakes.

If they would be biscuits they would be called: Jaffa Biscuits.

I've never had a Jaffa cake, but I perfer cake over biscuts. Jaffa cakes sound good though.

I think they are biscuit sized cakes that look like cookies. But then again I'm getting all my information from google.
