i read this whole thing thinkin it was recent. i was fr so confused y its about ioldcp but ima copy bailey

What year did you join OldCP and/or this community?
Feb 2016

What was your first username, why did you pick this username?
Vibe because it was my stage name irl. I would perform in front of big crowds a lot and they always called me vibe (im a hip-hop dancer)

Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not?
Terry but he left

What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank?
Nah i was tryna promote my dance videos then it turned into earning ranks

What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it?
Probably memories from the old days when i was really close with people like molly, bri, abu, tennis, wheeler, mattyvacc, dancebear, salsa and a couple of others
i still talk to some of them

What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why?
Get involved with the wrong people. I don't even need to say why

If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why?
Probably the version where i first joined. Everything was fresh and meaningful. Community was a lot more fun and i met great people even tho we don't talk anymore

How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now?
16 and 22 now

Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why?
Yeah. Almost everytime i got admin i got overworked and quit just cuz i had a lot more on my hands than other admins. Last time i quit was because of drama

What made you come back had you of answered yes to the above question?
Never planned on coming back and never even thought about it cuz i have a whole life outside the community that im happy with but the oldcp reunion took me back to the old days and I started talking to some people again that i cut off. Felt nice so i stayed

Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay?
Growing up with the community and the emotional attachment. Its more about the people than the games. Its just a little place where everyone knows each other and everyone has dsghq in common. I think that everyone has the same attachment which is y people keep coming back (whether they like to admit it or not)

If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.)
I wouldn't rlly change anything. I feel like its just aged and all the changes over the years were bound to happen so just let it be how it is

When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered?
Just someone who was friendly and who everyone could get along with

Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you?
Ive never had any staff help me out in game from what i remember but i specifically recall damen helping me out the most with both in game and out of game stuff which is surprising because he doesn't rlly moderate or deal with drama, he's just the developer but nonetheless it means a lot that he went out of his way to help me out many times

Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you?
Nope

Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right?
same answer as bailey

Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community.
I wanted to go back to the old club penguin for nostalgia. I only wanted to play for like 10 mins then leave but then i found oldcp and got interested when i saw the weapons and funerals etc

What year did you join OldCP and/or this community?: 2013

What was your first username, why did you pick this username?: JeffCSGuy (I wanted to be the owner of the Coffee Shop)

Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not? Fizz (I haven't spoken to them in a year or so but I've never been on their bad side)

What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank? To be a moderator

What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it? Hanging out with my friends on OldCP, Snailschat, Snaildom, Penguin Isles and Penguin3D. It makes me sad because I know I'll never experience anything like that again.

What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why? Committed treason a few times in 2015

If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why? 2013, 2014, 2017, or 2020 because they were the years I had the most fun.

How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now? 8, 16

Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why? I took a break from 2018 - 2020 because I was losing friends and wasn't enjoying OldCP anymore

What made you come back had you of answered yes to the above question? A global pandemic

Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay? The friends I've made

If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.) More planes

When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered? The greatest news reporter/pilot

Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you? When the OldCP staff recommended me to the admins and I finally became a mod on OldCP

Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you? When I first joined, Terry and others helped me learn how to play

Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right? Many times

Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community. How did it make you feel back then, and what does it make you feel like now? To play an older version of Club Penguin. It made me happy back then and makes me happy now.

What year did you join OldCP and/or this community? 2014

What was your first username, why did you pick this username? Jake01 because I wanted Terry to adopt me for that mod clout #nepotism

Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not? Other than Terry, it were probably Ras or Ollo. Terrific lads, I hope they're reading this cos they really are. We've been in contact ever since

What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank? Neither. To experience the good old days

What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it? Gosh that's a hard one. But one of the standout ones would be the times me and my mates would mess about searching for /jrs. But all the memories, all the events, great fun and I'll always enjoy reliving them in my head

What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why? No regrets

If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why? 2015 man, good times

How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now? I would've been 10 when I first joined, now I'm 18 in less than a month damn

Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why? Yeah well I've had bouts of inactivity from 2017 onwards, but it wasn't til 2018 I went MIA for about 6 months. Came back in like December 2018 or Feb 2019 and then of course March came and the rest was history. Miss the lockdown can't believe it's been 2 years.

What made you come back had you of answered yes to the above question? Probably the memories and plus I would do anything but work, so partially my procrastination

Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay? Nostalgia and friends

If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.) Crimezone, solely because it isn't inclusive enough in terms of it becoming a community effort to idk zone out the crime or something but yeah. Also in my opinion it doesn't reflect what OldCP was meant to be, it's made it turn into this tale of lores and arcs etc rather than an OLD club penguin with fun events that brought us all together.

When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered? For being a pookie for x amount of years lol
Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you? Terry has helped me out countless times, I'm glad we stay in touch. He taught me loads of things
Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you? Honestly cannot remember a standout moment but I know all my friends, regular user or staff, were there for me as were I for them. In recent times it would be Joseph during some really lonely times

Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right? I don't like speaking about Baff's quests... They were the highlight of my lockdown, but SOMEBODY would keep winning them and it wasn't me... saber mind showing me what cheats you were using please?

Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community. How did it make you feel back then, and what does it make you feel like now? To experience an old club penguin. Back then it made me feel accomplished because I saw what everyone said was Club Penguin's hayday. Now I still feel the same, but I'm also glad I made the decision because of all the friends and memories I would cherish today.

Scott, thank you so much for reviving this. It goes to show some posts deserve to be commented on regardless of how long ago they were posted. Some interesting answers in this discussion, keep it up!

It would be with Randy and @Rila. We were in /jr pinapple (spelled like that on purpose) and someone comes up to Rila (she was a mod then) and says "want to see my igloo?" and Rila being the nice person she is said of course. I followed her 'cuz it could've been a trap (experienced player things, you guys could never) and the user showed Rila a very, uh, specific image painted on the floor of their igloo with snowballs. Rila, innocently said something along the lines of "nice tree!", and Randy & I lost it. Every time I think about this, it makes me laugh.

First off, I would simply like to acknowledge and let you all know I am beyond appreciative of the recent responses, I truly have been in love with reading all your stories... it's so fascinating! However, I always said I would add my answers to the above questions, so I'd like to take the time to finally (after all this time) respond to my own discussion.
  • What year did you join OldCP and/or this community?
I joined OldCP at the beginning of 2013, a total of nearly 8 years.
  • What was your first username, why did you pick this username?
My first official username was "sarabareille", later changed to "Sadie", and now alas' it is Scott.
  • Who was the first person you spoke to on here, are you still friends? If not, why not?
The first person I had ever communicated with would be Sunwolf, she was an OldCP Moderator at that time, and I remember the question I asked her was how to wear (2) head items at once. She answered my question, and she and I became good friends. I've talked to Sunwolf not too long ago, but sadly, we have lost connection.
  • What was your first goal when you came here, was it to make friends or earn a rank?
Honestly, I never intended to grow on this game... I came on here for a distraction, and honestly, it became a second home for me. I loved communicating with the users, and because of that, I decided that being within the OldCP/DSGHQ staff would be of great benefit to me & the users I was supporting at said time.
  • What is one of your favorite memories that you have ever had on here, how does it make you feel when you think about it?
Honestly, I have had an abundance of memories on here... too many to name! Personally, meeting Amanda (Nepeta/Avax) was such a turning point for me. I always knew her and I would be good friends, but I never knew how important she'd become to me. I have been so lucky enough to meet Amanda in real-life, and she's simply amazing. She will always be a "4-lifer" to me. I can't picture life without her, I also would like to acknowledge meeting anyone who impacted my life, e.g. Bailey.
  • What is one thing you wish you had not have done on here, why?
Honestly, I don't have many regrets. However, I often regret coming on here as an alias of "Sadie", but there are times where I also regret coming out as Scott. Personally, coming on here was always an escape from reality... so upon bringing upon my actual life details it kind of became impossible for me to actually escape the reality of life, instead, it now was everywhere.
  • If you could go back to any version of OldCP (or year) what would it be, why?
I would go back to v.6, 2013! I miss that dedicated userbase of amazing people.
  • How old were you when you joined this community, how old are you now?
When I joined this community I was 12 (maybe 13), and I am now 21... how crazy is that!?
  • Have you ever "quit" or taken a break from here, why?
Yes, well, I never really "quit" per se, but I have definitely taken breaks.
  • What made you come back had you answered yes to the above question?
The outstanding users, people I call friends. My love for the community.
  • Although you may disagree with things happening in this community, what makes you stay?
Again, the userbase is what makes me stay. There are many amazing people who have impacted my life. I have met so many people I have been honored to meet some in life, and I can't imagine life without them. This is a very close-knit community, and I love it. I love all of the talented and remarkable people we have that make the DSGHQ person-centered.
  • If you could change one thing about this community what would it be and why? (Please keep this one friendly.)
I wish I could implement more advertising. Our numbers have and will continue to decrease substantially through time... I feel like there is stuff that could be done/implemented to allow a new userbase to find the DSGHQ. It would be so nice to welcome people to this community!
  • When you decide you're finally too old or grown for this community, in what way would you like to be remembered?
I would like to be remembered as someone who never gave up, someone who really promoted change (for the better), and was a complete advocate for everyone around me. I would like to leave a legacy behind, one where I have impacted most users in some form or fashion and left with the notion that my actions, words, and everything in between left a positive impact on the community as a whole, that is my dream.
  • Can you think of a time where a staff member helped you out and it really helped you?
I explained this above, with the Sunwolf story...
  • Can you think of a time where a regular everyday user helped you out and it really helped you?
Honestly, every day. Especially when I became Senior Captain. Through this time I was able to promote newer users and watch them grow. Watching them be inspired really motivated me. I loved knowing that my knowledge and experience were helping those around me, and in turn, I have been assisted by them more than I can even thank the PW for. I love them.
  • Do you remember a time where you were proven wrong even when you thought you were right?
All the time. In life, we create comfort zones and we don't like being pushed away from them. I'm not perfect, and I do make mistakes. However, it has and always will be my goal to ensure that I learn from them as best as I can, to make sure I don't make the same mistake again.
  • Lastly, do you remember the reason why you joined this community? How did it make you feel back then, and what does it make you feel like now?
I joined this community when I was going through a very turbulent moment in my life. Honestly, I have and still struggle with mental health issues. This community when I joined allowed me to be who I really felt like inside, and it has allowed me to grow substantially as a person. I have understood things about myself that I hadn't known and/or accept prior to joining this community. It has opened my eyes, educated me, and changed me entirely. I can not thank everyone enough for how much of an impact y'all have had on me... and although this is an online experience, the impact is real. I am at my happiest, and although I still struggle mentally, I know that this will always be a "safe place" for me, and I shall never ever leave this place, for it was the first place I was truly able to call home, even if that may sound beyond cliche. I love the DSGHQ, and I love all of you!

Again, thank you all for creating your responses to this discussion... I love seeing all of your stories. Keep it going, it is so nice to revisit the past sometimes, as long as we don't deter around in it too much, just learn from it and move forward. Thank you! <3
