The Holocaust was a very gruesome and dreadful time in history. I was given an a final assignment from my, now past, English Honors teacher this year. The assignment was to create a poem regarding the Holocaust. I want to share it with you guys and see what you guys think. Feedback and opinions are encouraged!
If you made it this far, thank you for reading. Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong category. I consider poems a form of art.

A date that sends chills down my spine,
September 1st, in the year of 1939.
History’s biggest demolition,
Left in gruesome and appalling condition.
World War II.
Contrasting groups going into war,
Soldiers saying goodbye to everyone they care for.
The Axis and the Allies,
Actions certainly not wise
Causing the disheartening soldiers’ demise.
My heart sinks,
And my mind constantly blinks..
One thought to another,
How does one have the heart to kill the other?
Forced away from their fathers and mothers,
Their sisters and brothers,
Crying eyes.
Gloomy skies
My parents weep,
For those in a never-ending sleep.
The Holocaust.
12 million guiltless souls,
Many broken hearts filled with holes.
Jews, the non-Aryans sent to their death,
Forced to take their last breath.
Camps created just for pain,
Worked endlessly or immediately slain.
The smell of flesh burning,
The sound of cries yearning.
The taste of stale bread,
The continuous feeling of dread.
The Dead.
The horrendous doings of someone cruel,
Someone who holds absolute rule.
Adolf Hitler with his Nazi party,
His actions far from ever being hearty.
If only I could scream and yell,
“You have created an absolute living hell,
What do you have to say for those who have fell?
Churchill, Stalin, Truman, FDR
These are the enemies of the Axis by far.
Many Germans couldn’t believe
Current Germans also grieve.
Fortunately, these horrors coming to an end,
Still having many things to mend.
The Aftermath.
The gruesome Hitler has fallen,
Along with his raging anger for Stalin.
VE-Day and VJ-Day
Streets and countries coming out from the gray.
The skies slowly relearn how to smile,
It truly has been quite a while.

Very good poem, but you should change 6 million to around 10-12 million as that really accounts for all lives taken in the Holocaust.
