Free Fighter or Knight Captain

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I want your guys opinions. What is better, Free Fighter or Knight Captain, and why? Personally I keep switching back and forth but I’m leaning on the Knight Captain side.

To be honest, I don't really see many differences. To become a Free Fighter, the empire must recognize you as one, after all, I don't see any "freedom", it seems like the same thing as Imperial Knight, but certainly Free Fighter will make you "more important".
