I don't really get why everyone is already hating on ioldcp before giving it another chance, I never played the original iOldCP that everyone's most likely comparing it to but from the time I spent on it and hearing the plans the administration has for it; it sounds like it could really be something.
I'm not everyone is aware of this but in ioldcp I'm pretty sure that:
- Guns are being removed.
- OP HP is being removed from users.
- No sabers.
- Increased focus on crimezone.
It's fighting and stuff is going to be based around iron swords, normal swords, and custom swords that do the same damage.
Also removing stuff such as sabers and op hp makes it so you don't have Alatar or Frogs religiously praying to CZ Gods for increased health or just mass killing everyone.
The way ioldcp is at the moment is pretty reminiscent to what 2014 and 2015 was like in OldCP.
Not to mention, basically all ranks are up for grabs; yesterday there was a vote for emperor and a warlord joust + introduction to a fresh crimezone.
iOldCP has more database administrators that are adding things constantly and the owners are a lot more active, I think people forget Damen is 23 and doesn't have as much time to put aside for this not like before. In my opinion it's a lot better to have a younger team running the game allowing them to be more active and much more invested with the community.
Not saying Damen doesn't try his best, he does a lot and somehow manages to still host a weekly create stream on the side and keeps up traditions such as GOM he's outdone himself with OldCP, he's doing more than he should be given the activity oldcp gets now.
People saying that iOldCP splits the playerbase isn't necessarily true given the people that say this don't even play OldCP themselves and the people that actively play OldCP just go on iOldCP and whenever there is some crimezone (which seems to be the life support for oldcp at this point) people log on there for the brief 10 minutes that lasts.
Only good things can really come out of iOldCP if you think about it, say if it is successful Damen might just switch it in place of OldCP or it could motivate Damen to fix OldCP.
Also at this point in time the two games are quite different.
I'm not sure if SG did a bad job running iOldCP last time but if that was the case, I think you guys are forgetting that it was his first time running a community of a 100 or so people that most likely would have been spamming him with various requests. I'm sure now that he's experienced it I'm sure he'll do a better job the second time around.
Only person on the administration team that I'm worried will ruin it for everyone else is Alatar, from the launch he's been arming people for no reason so I hope somethings being done about that and ignores SG when he tells him what to do. So I hope either Damen or SG sort him out.
