The easiest way is to use a modpack from a launcher like Feed the Beast ( https://www.feed-the-beast.com/ ). If you don't want a whole modpack but just want a few mods, I'm not sure what the current way is.

download forge of the version of minecraft that you would like to use your mods on. Then download a mod that you would want, also make sure that it is a .jar file. now you want to hit Win+R to open your run menu. type in %appdata% in it and hit enter. hit roaming and then hit .minecraft there should be a folder called mods, and then you drag your mods into that folder and run the forge version on your minecraft launcher and you have ur mods
