Growing up I've always had a fast metabolism and around my sophomore year of high school I noticed I was pretty scrawny, so I signed up for a gym membership. I worked out most of the week that summer, starting I was 5'10 and weighed about 140 pounds. After months of exercise and weight lifting, I was able to put on a little over 25-30 pounds which were mostly muscle.

I'm still relatively skinny but nowhere near how I had been. Gaining weight isn't easy when you have the metabolism of a rabbit. My secret? Protein, for a while I was eating whatever was in front of me while exercising and I was gaining weight some of which was muscle but I was also getting fatter. I entirely cut out fast food, I limit the number of carbohydrates I take in, I don't drink soda, I try and not eat too much sugar but my Mom is a pastry chef so it's kind of hard to not eat some of the things she bakes. But that's beside the point. Body positivity is great, but from my experience coming from someone who didn't always have quite the ideal male body type (broad shoulders and washboard abs) a healthy diet and regular exercise is scientifically proven to be beneficial to your mental health.

I was going through a tough period in my life so I worked out like crazy, although it didn't make my sadness go away it helped me feel more confident in myself, and getting active helped me mentally, and looking back I wish I took my health more seriously sooner.

Never avoid sugar, it fuels every cell in your body and enables you to do MORE and get MORE gains (especially lean gains). To pack on more muscle and burn more fat, carbs are ESSENTIAL. The krebs cycle/TCA cycle requires carbohydrate in order to burn fat for ATP! Therefore carbs are ESSENTIAL for fat burning long term.

To avoid getting fat from eating more sugar, replace the fat you eat (oils, butter, milk, cheese, pastry etc) with sugar and see how your performance SKYROCKETS.

In the next episode of THE HARD TRUTH, I will expose the lie that sugar makes you fat. In fact, its the fat you eat that makes you fat.

I don't think sugar makes you fat entirely but I definitely think its bad for you. Not only is sugar more addictive than actual street drugs, but cancer cells are able to feed off of and grow out of sugar. (not sure if you have to already have cancer for that to be applicable but it could possibly be without) I'd say don't try to stay away from sugar entirely but consume in moderation!

Do you eat potatoes or perhaps beans? If so, they are turned into sugar far faster than actual table sugar is (almost twice as much as table sugar/sucrose).

Of course sugar is addictive. Its an essential nutrient that fuels every cell in the body. Your brain runs only on sugar. When you're hungry, your body is asking for sugar/carbs. When you're out of breath, your body is asking for oxygen. Oxygen is also addictive.

And yes, sugar does feed all cells in the body. That would include cancer cells. But it does not make it grow or cause it. Thats like saying oxygen feeds cancer cells (which it does) so we should stop breathing.
