Hello DSGHQ,
Recently, I've noticed an influx of people contact me asking about how to become a Wise Moth. This discussion is going to be the certified post that explains what the Council is, what members of the Council do, and what to expect upon joining the Moth Council. If you're interested in becoming a part of the Council, keep reading!
What are the Moth Council ranks?
What is Wise Moth?
Wise Moth is one of the many ranks on OldCP. This rank is relatively new but is rooted in historical ideas and traditions within OldCP. The rank is a combination of the ranks Moth Larva, Moth Priest, Wise One, and Most Wise. The wise and moth ranks had been combined together as a way to make one big council since both councils were relatively small and worked together frequently anyway. This rank is the starting rank and lowest tier within the council.
What is Moth Ninja?
Moth Ninja has been the same rank as it was even with the transitioning of the councils, it had just become a more recognizable part of the council. This rank is the next level tier ranking within the Council. Upon getting this rank, you're considered a member of the Inner Council. By being a member of the Inner Council, you're able to suggest Wise Moths, discuss serious Moth Council matters with the Grand Moth Wise and Blind Monks, and help plan ideas that will hopefully be added in the future.
What is Blind Monk?
A Blind Monk is a prestigious member. A person with this rank has typically held the High Priest, Grand Most Wise, or Grand Moth Wise position at least once. This rank can also be earned if it showed extreme dedication and has stayed with the council for a long period of time. These people are in the council to provide their wisdom and knowledge. Just as Moth Ninja, this rank is a part of the Inner Council and gets to discuss the same things a Moth Ninja does.
What is Grand Moth Wise?
The Grand Moth Wise is the leader of the Moth Council. Known as High Priest and Grand Most Wise mixed, this person is seen as the face of the Moth Council and has the help of the Wise Moths and the Inner Council to make sure that the best intentions for the Council are being shown. This rank, as well as Blind Monks, are also responsible for testing students for the ranks Wise Moth and Moth Ninja.
What are the requirements for these ranks?
Wise Moth
- An active user, able to clock at least 5 hours a week.
- No history of trials in the past month.
- If a returning user, must be back for at least a month.
- An individual who is desiring for rank and willing to bring creative ideas forward to help better the Moth Council.
- Exceptional trust with the Administrators and the Inner Council.
- Must go through training and pass the Wise Moth test.
Moth Ninja
- An active user, able to clock at least 5 hours a week.
- No history of trials in the past month.

- An individual who is desiring for rank and willing to bring creative ideas forward to help better the Moth Council.
- Exceptional trust with the Administrators and the Inner Council.
- Must go through training and pass the Moth Ninja test (if approved upon by the Inner Council).
Blind Monk
This rank is typically given to past High Priests, Grand Most Wises, and Grand Moth Wises who had recently resigned from their positions. More information on this rank will be provided soon.

As for training, how would I begin?
Anyone is able to train for ranks within the Moth Council. The only rank you're not allowed to have prior to training is a Knight ranking (excluding War Knight). You're also not allowed to be evil or be part of any organization against the South. If you're interested in training and you reach the requirements, you can contact me on Discord (my name is in the OldCP Discord server), send me a forums mail, or ask me on OldCP. As a Wise Moth, you'll go over wisdom, a moth's standard responsibilities, general OldCP history, and general OldCP lore. For Moth Ninja, you'll focus more primarily on OldCP lore, one of the most memorable parts being the Reptilian Text. You can train by yourself or with a group. So if you or people you know are interested, bring your friends!
Recent additions to the Moth Council:
- Established trial rotations so that everyone in the Moth Council can take turns expressing their wisdom at trials.
- Better established and hands-on training/lessons.
- Improved and more structured tests.
- Many new members.
Things wanting to be added:
- Weekly discussions together as a Council about hot topics within the community.
- Possibility of bringing back Moth Trials (if we're at a desaperare need for Moths or a new Grand Moth Wise).
- More Inner Council members.
Thank you for reading this post. I hope you learned something or gained an interest in the Moth Council!
Regards,
- Joseph
