It's amazing just how often I come on the Forums, read through a few things, and then leave, just like that. Nothing ever really happens anymore. It's not alive like it used to be. And nothing can really capture the mornings of waking up, going to Forums, seeing what's going down, or the greatest moments of the 4 - 6 PM EST events that were unmissable. RocketCP, Jousts, crimezone, everything. I can still recall some of my favorite moments in the Draconians, even for the vast period that I wasn't technically a part of them. I really only became more active around the falling off years of the game, that and I was actually mentally capable to process things considering I wasn't 9 and 10 years old. And now that I'm back here, all that's left is to stare. OldCP is dead. The new OldCP is just iOldCP. That isn't to say the current build of OldCP is worse - it just isn't OldCP. The actual vibe the place held is gone, and anyway, I think it's best OldCP itself does die off. I like Penguin3D okay, but it just isn't for me. Obviously, Damen is trying to keep both novelty and tradition with the game, but personally it doesn't really have me stoked to play it. Essentially, it's just a Roblox roleplay server but with Penguins. Not to undermine Damen's work - it definitely looks and plays and works a whole hell of a lot better than P3D - but Penguin3D just isn't it. It's not necessarily a roleplaying game, because only a sixth of the playerbase is ever actually roleplaying. It's not a fighting game, either - not only is fighting in the game easily one of the most boring rinse and repeat battle styles I've seen more than enough. Which, is fine, really. There's definitely some strategy there, but it really doesn't hold up to the same standard. So fighting, at least for me, is just a matter of spamming left click and hoping. Not even to mention that fighting is practically pointless unless in war scenarios, because you'll just be arrested. War scenarios only warrant Damen finding "the new special weapon" so whatever side is "morally good and right" goes ahead and pulls out the victory despite the fact the other side should have just won the battle and continued into new things. Bu that'd end the cycle, right? And then there's the mining system. I've talked it down a lot. It's certainly improved. Personally I believe 9/10 people in the game just leave an autoclicker in a cave. And, if you know that, I would think you'd at least make the mining rates slower, or maybe add a random encounter, or put an on screen TV or something while I hit a wall for an eternity? Penguin3D's system aside, I really just don't have a reason to play the game much. I like the story elements, but usually those don't remain too consistent, which is fine, within reason. But the real thing is, I think, is that if this were out around the time where Club Penguin and it's private servers actually had a chance in an online space, and I was 11 or 12? This game would easily be a real kicker for me. Anyone that hadn't played OldCP back in the days of it's true popularity can't begin to understand why anyone would want to play these games. I will always be fond of OldCP. Penguin3D is alright, too. But the Forums is the real Archive of the community. It's the history book. It's a massive plane of nostalgia, clues of events and people that have completely moved on into a new life. It doesn't need to be said that the community is dying, it's just a matter of time before Penguin3D becomes an empty space. I assume some few Spanish users will probably always be there. They're no strangers to living in dilapidated abandoned spaces. There is always some greatness to emerge from the DamenSpike community. It's what introduced me to Discord, and Skype, and other various corners of the internet. It's how I acquired my online username. It's how I met my best friend, what got me truly interested in Tolkien's works, and just something that had a huge impact on my early life, and something I don't think I can ever really forget. I've rambled enough, no one has read to this point, and I understand that entirely. I suppose I am just writing to the DamenSpike Games HQ, as an entity itself, alone. This is my semi-annual Hello. And this, my semi-annual goodbye. (For this post.)

Well it’s literally supposed to be iOldCP since that was the whole point of the merge to combine both games into one. However us Wardens are trying our best to keep the feel of both games alive if you have any suggestions on what we can do to try and improve the game feel free to dm one of us.

I wasn't trying to downplay iOldCP! Don't worry, I am perfectly content with it. I am aware of the point of the merge. It's also still got a good feel to it! Sorry it seemed that way.

i understand what you're saying Alatar. you're venting about how everything has changed since when the community started, and to be honest i can agree with a lot that's being said. but, the past is the past and you just got to make the best of the present. So i do miss the way Oldcp was back in 2014-2017 but those numbers will sadly never peak again. But with me being warden of the game now along with SG, i just do what i can to make the best of a situation like this. But at the end of the day, I do miss the way things were back then too, but i guess that's why they're memories and we focus on the present now.

flash dying certainly didnt help oldcp as well. but yeah. the game would have been even more dead if it wasn't for the pandemic and the lockdowns which brought people back for that short time.
