In GNZ, the group is preparing to break the curse that has been placed upon Eonwe.

Varda: Little, I will need your help preparing the potion we need for the counter curse. We will need to go to the kitchens.
Little: Ok, sounds fun! What do I need to do?
Varda: Will you kick Zes out of there for me?
Little: Of course. Is that it?
Varda: That is all that I really need you for. But you're welcome to watch me make the potion.
Varda and Little head off towards the kitchens, leaving Manwe alone with Eonwe. Eonwe appears to be sad that Little is leaving him.
Eonwe (sniffling): Your daughter is quite a heart breaker, isn't she?
Manwe: I wouldn't know-
Eonwe: This is why we would be better off without women. Manwe, will you run off with me?
Manwe: No! I happen to love my wife and daughter.
Eonwe looks saddened but becomes angry.
Eonwe: So they have you brainwashed too.
Manwe: What?
Eonwe: The only one who understands my pain is Pythas. I must go to him!
Manwe: You're staying right here, Eonwe.

At the jail, Foxel has prepared some poisoned candy for Danito to take to Zen's cell.

Foxel: Now remember Danito, this candy is only meant for Zen. Just say that Dice dropped it off for her and be on your way.
Danito: Are you sure we should be doing this?
Foxel: Of course I'm sure. I'm the one in charge here. Now do it!
Danito: Ok but I'm doing this under protest.
Foxel: We aren't going to get caught if you do this right.
Danito: Whatever.
Danito leaves the room, taking the candy to Zen's cell. Zen is in the cell sitting on the bed writing something. She quickly hides the pen and paper when she sees Danito. Danito pretends that he didn't see the forbidden items.
Danito: Dice dropped off some candy for you.
Zen: Where is Dice? Why didn't he stop by?
Danito: He's a very busy man.
Zen: It doesn't make sense that Dice would drop off sweets for me and not stop by. Especially since sweets aren't allowed.
Danito: Look, I'm being kind this one time. Dice is busy. Haven't you seen the news paper? He's shadowing Bakeitor today on his hunt for Ayancito. Now do you want the sweets or not?
Zen: Yeah, sure, I'll take them.
Danito gives Zen the sweets through the cell bars.
Danito: Just don't tell Foxel or anyone else that I did this favor for you.
Zen: Got it.
Danito leaves. Zen goes back to her writing. She is suspicious about the candy so she sets it aside. Nothing about the situation felt right.

In Baraddur, Amir and Tasha have gone up to visit Loki since Silence has finished surgery to remove the arrow. They are waiting for Loki to wake up.

Tasha: RenJey seems young for a nazgul.
Amir: That he is. He's actually the youngest of the nazgul.
Tasha: He also seems to be good at magic.
Amir: He is a good sorcerer. I taught him much of what he knows. I noticed the way you were looking at him.
Tasha (embarassed): It was very interesting watching him work.
Amir (teasing): I'm sure that's the whole story.
Amir's attention abruptly turns to Loki, shes waking up.
Amir: Well, well, well, look who finally decided to wake up.
Loki (weakly): What a terrible phrase to wake up to. Where's Silence? I want a redo so you can think of something more original.
Amir: Shhh my sour grapefruit, Silence said you weren't to talk for awhile.
Tasha: No-
Amir briefly glares at Tasha to keep her mouth shut.
Amir: You have to conserve energy.
Loki: Its so cute that you think you can lie to me.
Amir: How do you feel?
Loki: Awful. Tired.
Suddenly, they overhear an argument going on just outside of the room.
Pic: Let me in, I want to see Loki! She isn't even that badly hurt!
Silence: Who?
Pic: The woman who you did surgery on. Earlier. Today.
Silence: You'll have to be more specific.
Pic: She's a vulture.
Silence: A vulture? I'm not a veterinarian!
Pic: She's not really a vulture. She's a shape shifter!
Silence: There's a lot of that going around these days. Would you like to schedule an appointment?
Pic: No! I came to see a patient!
Silence: Which one?
Pic: The one I just described to you!
Silence: You weren't specific enough.
Pic: What more details do you want!?
Silence: Admit it, you aren't describing a real patient. You just want my chloroform.
Pic: UGH! You are so unhelpful!
Silence: I'm going to call security...
Pic: Ok maybe this will help. She's married to a guy who thinks hes really big and scary.
Silence: You must mean Melody. She's not here.
Pic: No! I don't mean Melody! Don't make me say this guy's name.
Silence: Maybe I should call a psychiatrist...
Pic: She's married to Amir. There! I said it!
Silence: Ohhh, her. You can't see her.
Pic: Why not?
Silence: You missed visiting hours by exactly one minute. Come back tomorrow.
