This is a list of Minecraft Bukkit server plugins that may be useful to Damen, to help him create and make the server.
All of these plugins are good minecraft plugins and are suggestions of plugins that should be implanted into the server. If you guys have questions, just ask me and I'll be able to help.

A good plugin to start off with on a server would be Essentials. Essentials includes the ability to ban, mute, kick, teleport, set spawn, and so many more things. Essentials is a familiar plugin to users of minecraft servers and those familiar with minecraft servers should have no problem using it. I've worked with this plugin before, and it's quite amazing.

Permissions: Permissions allow administrators and developers to set which commands or actions a user can do. Things such as being able to do a command, or something passive such as the ability to regen health. Permissions work on groups, such as Admins, mods, users. Groups can be given prefixes and or suffixes. Permissions are usually done through files, and it's easiest to do it that way, but can in some form be done through commands (although can get very messy)
PermissionsEX is personally my favorite permissions plugin due to the control it allows.

WorldEdit: World edit is a great plugin for moderators and or build teams to help build things quicker and faster. Unlike the singleplayer version, worldedit for servers offers more commands and is much much more stable. It's pretty much a must-have for any servers that plan to have a spawn.

VoxelSniper: VoxelSniper is one of my favorite building plugins. It allows control over terraforming and is more geared toward building in detail, while worldedit is used to get basics down and not much of a build tool but a quick way to make big walls and whatnot. VoxelSniper is a heavy plugin, so it's best that the server is able to handle it.

MultiVerse: Multiverse to me is a very very useful plugin as it allows multiple worlds to be loaded onto a server. You can easily configure these worlds to have for example, no creepers, or allow only certain groups (see permissions) to enter worlds. It is a must have for any server that plans to have survival and creative. Multiverse offers several plugins, including inventories and portals, which I also suggest. Multiverse is a heavy plugin, so it's best that the server is able to handle it.

Factions: Factions is a fun way of playing survival and essentially allows players to make groups/clans in which they can claim land and make a base. Then, they can raid other bases by blowing them up, stealing their stuff, or reclaiming their land. It's a good approach for a server that intends to be hardcore. I've worked a little bit with this plugin, and it's very easy to use.

LWC and Lockette: LWC and Lockette and both block protection plugins, they allow users to protect their chests, doors, furnaces, and etc from other users. These plugins are good for any server that aims to be anti grief and anti raid. Lockette is personally my favorite as it is simple and is protected by using signs rather than commands, and it is very basic and easy for users to use. LWC on the other hand is more advanced and is done through commands. It allows password protected containers and a couple other protections, but out of the two I would take lockette anyday.

Variable Triggers: Ok, so maybe this isn't a must have for a survival server but is indeed a very cool plugin that I've worked a ton with, once you understand it you can do pretty cool stuff with it. It allows the admin or developer to essentially create triggers, or in this case blocks that you can interact with that will trigger a command or do something like send text to the user. I love using this plugin for spawns or giving items to users when they log in. For example, you could make a whole signless tutorial using variable triggers, Just make a hallway and the user walks down it and as they do, they are sent messages and what not. I love this plugin and if you think your server is strong enough and that it is necessary, you should certainly get it.

Towny: Even though I absolutely HATE towny, I will still list it here. Towny allows a user to create towns and nations and have other users join them. It's a lot like factions, but I dislike it due to the confusion and usually the money it takes to start a town. I personally don't think it's very user friendly and should only be used under certain circumstances, but it's of course your decision if you wish to use towny or factions.

Plotme: Plotme is a common plugin for creative-based servers. Plotme essentially creates a world of infinite "plots" (the size of the plots can be configured) and allows users to claim these plots. The plots are protected and only the owner of the plot and the users the owner has invited to build in that plot can edit the plot. Plotme is a far better approach than open-world building and helps prevents griefing. If you are going to do creative, plotme is the way to go.

CoreProtect: Coreprotect, oh this plugin has saved me many, many times. Coreprotect is essentially an anti-grief plugin that allows an admin or moderator to view block data as well as rollback the blocks placed by a certain user, at a certain time, or just rollback the whole server. By block data, I mean that the moderator can view who last edited that block (placed something there) and what time. It's a great way to see if someone griefed a build, and is still a great plugin to have even if your server allows griefing. Coreprotect is a very heavy plugin and will need a powerful server to run it, but man is it a livesaver.

WorldGuard: WorldGuard is a plugin that lets developers create certain regions and add "flags" to those regions. For example, a developer can use the WorldGuard wand to create a large region around the main spawn area. Then, by using commands that WorldGuard offers, the developer can make it so that no mobs spawn in the area, that there is no pvp in the area, and in some cases some groups (see permissions) can't leave or join that area. Great plugin, and I have to say that it is probably a plugin that all servers should have.

Eek, those are just some from the top of my head. I could probably add some more but my fingers are getting really tired and I honestly can't think of much more essential ones to add. I may add a "fun plugins" section, of things like mob arena and what have you. But yeah, I hope that damen and other server developers find this useful.

And yeah... I play wayy too much minecraft.

Nice post, keep it up! If Damen is going to make a Minecraft server, this would be VERY useful to follow. I would join right away! Thanks for helping out, it will make things a whole lot easier.

Are you gonna show us how to add them to our server? And what version are they for?

They are mostly for 1.6.4, but can work with 1.7.
To install them, simply set up a Minecraft Bukkit server and download the plugins and drop the .jars into the plugins folder in the bukkit server folder.
