FGOM: Swirlie's Fun Facts
•
28th April 2020, 05:11 AM
Hi everyone! I've decided to join in the fun and share some cool facts about me. Since I have nothing better to do at 4 AM, why not? Anyway, here goes nothing.
#1: I used to play piano
I started playing the piano when I was 9 years old. I decided to do it because my parents really wanted me to play an instrument, and I thought the piano would be really cool to learn. Somehow I played in front of many people at school concerts, although I have bad anxiety. I took lessons for 2 years and then quit because I just knew it wasn't for me. However, an instrument I really want to learn how to play is the ukulele.
#2: I have a great love for animals
For all of my life I have always had a passion for animals. I've always gotten along with them and they tend to make me feel relaxed and they ease my anxiety. I currently have 3 cats, and I also used to ride horses. I don't know for sure yet, but I may want to become a veterinarian. It's something I've always thought about and been interested in, but I am still quite unsure.
#3: I enjoy designing
I'm pretty terrible at drawing but I really enjoy designing things. I'm sure you can tell by the image I made for this post, and from the fact that I change my profile a lot. I'm in no way a professional, but it's just something I like to do to pass the time. I'm not very creative but it allows me to express myself a bit.
#4: I'm an extremely picky eater
Picky eating is a habit I've never grown out of. It's stuck with me my entire life. If it doesn't look appetizing or if it doesn't smell good, there's a good chance that I won't eat it. I don't really know why I'm like this honestly.
#5: I once fractured my skull
Not many people know this about me, but yes, this is true. To make a long story short, I fell and hit my head off the ground while playing outside and fractured my skull. I had a pretty bad concussion and I also dislocated 2 bones in my right ear. Needless to say, that was probably the worst day of my life.
Thanks for reading, I hope you learned a thing or two about me from this post.

I'm a bit shocked that Scott was demoted, he's always been a great staff member. Otherwise it's good to see that most of the mods were able to stay

How's Everyone Doing?

The days have honestly been flying by for me, even though every day is just the same routine over and over again. I'm a huge introvert but as much as I hate school, quarantine has made me learn to appreciate it more. It gives me something to do and people to talk to, although I'm not much of a social person. I miss being able to go places and spending time with my family. Quarantine has been depressing, but it has made me appreciate the little things in life. It's a weird feeling.

Why I Did the Approval Polls
•
26th April 2020, 07:04 PM
It's very difficult to get an accurate representation of the users' opinions on the staff without friendship being a factor. There isn't really a way to solve this problem though, as of course, people are going to have bias towards their friends no matter what. It's just how it is, and how it always will be. That's why I'm not really in favor of redemptions; people don't vote for the right reasons.
I love the fact that you've given the users more opportunities to share their opinions and make their voices heard, since redemptions don't occur often. However, as far as I'm concerned, there is no better way to collect people's thoughts. Although the staff team on both platforms is fine for the most part as of now (in my opinion), they could always improve. I think having moderator evaluations/appraisals on a regular basis would help them see more on HOW they could improve. Having a poll does not tell them this. If the admins are too busy to do this, I would be willing to take that responsibility, at least for OldCP staff.

Forum Moderator Application
•
25th April 2020, 05:29 PM
Introduction
Hi, my name is Swirlie. I am applying for the position of forum moderator. I have decided to apply for this role because I believe with my knowledge and experience, I can make a great addition to the forum staff team. I've been a part of the DSGHQ since 2015, and since then I have grown to become a trusted and loyal user. I am 15 years old, my timezone is EST, and I am an extremely active member of the community.
Experience
• Forums Master
• OldCP, Penguin3D, & Forum Moderator
• OldCP & Penguin3D Head Moderator
• Detective
• Penguin Watch Captain
• Empress Regent
• OldCP & Penguin3D Emperor Helper
What makes you ideal for this role?
I believe I possess all qualities of a moderator, and that I stand out from other candidates. For one, I am extremely active. I use the forums a lot every day, so this is a huge benefit for everyone, as I am able to moderate and take care of users of a wide variety of timezones. I am always browsing the forum, so I am easily able to catch rule breakers if they create content that don't abide by our values. Not only do I have excellent activity, but I also have great knowledge of how to use and navigate the forums. I have been a member for over five years, therefore I have very much experience. I know how to perform basic functions of the forum, such as creating posts and statuses, and also how BB code works. As well as this, I am knowledgeable on how to moderate the forums, as I was formerly a moderator for quite some time. I have also moderated various other DSGHQ platforms, such as OldCP and Penguin3D. Thus, I already have the skills and knowledge on how to be a great moderator and keep our community a safe environment for everyone.
How would you carry out your responsibilities?
If I were chosen to be a forum moderator, my ultimate goal would be to sustain a safe environment in which everyone can be comfortable in. No matter the circumstance, I would always uphold the rules and community values. I would do this by always checking for new content, as I already do. Therefore, I would easily be able to catch anyone breaking the rules since I am always on the watch. I am able to multitask as well, so I can moderate the forums while doing other things. Also, I would punish rule breakers using my very best judgment. I would only use my abilities as a moderator to keep our community a safe place; I would never have any harmful intentions. When there is conflict, I would be sure to approach it in a mature and restorative manner, and assist whoever is involved in order to solve it. If any user would ever had concerns or inquiries, they would always be able to reach out to me, and I would be sure to try my best to support them and provide anything they may need.
Thank you for reading, I hope I am considered to be the next forum moderator!

I joined the chat and there were like 50 people in it. I don’t think it's gonna die. I just don’t see why people should be banned if they want to play 2 games

The game won't even have a consistent amount of users; it will just die within a few days. That is, if it even releases in the first place. I don't see why you're concerned.
