WARNING! SPOILER ALERT!!! Also, this one is a bit long, I apologize!

First off, the first time I watched Naruto was over a year ago, which was back when I couldn’t get past the 3rd episode. Yes, the episode that Naruto and Sasuke accidentally kiss (HAH GAAY!). For the longest time, I was too embarrassed to keep watching. It was only recently, ie. earlier in 2019, that I picked up where I left off. And then, I moved onto Shippuden.

As I watched further and further into the series, I cried. A lot. I laughed. A lot. It was a roller coaster of emotions.

For this anime review, I’ll be going over the parts that seem the most important for me to bring up. As well as the parts that made me cry/laugh the most.

Season 1:

This season is the most remembered of all 4, in my opinion at least. It’s by far the most iconic season in all of Naruto, mainly due to the special scene that occurs in episode 3. Yeah, that’s right. The accidental kiss. Has anyone noticed that when Naruto and Sasuke kiss, Naruto loses the whiskers on his face? I thought that was important enough to be brought to attention. I don’t know at this point, man.

In the timespan of the next few episodes, Naruto and his teammates, Sasuke and Sakura, meet their sensei, Kakashi Hatake. The very man that many fans grow to love as time goes on. The mystery of what’s behind his mask goes unsolved until one episode of Naruto Shippuden (episode 469 of season 9).

But we’re not talking about Shippuden here, this is the Naruto review. Anyways, Team 7 goes through Kakashi’s bell test, which at first they fail. Naruto is tied to a log and denied of any lunch, but Sasuke feeds him first, before Sakura follows his lead. Kakashi then appears before them, seemingly angry at them, and their excuse is that the 3 of them are one.

It is right after this that Kakashi says what is probably the most well known quotes from the anime, other than Naruto's ‘Believe it!’

“Those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum.”

This quote sticks with Team 7 even into Shippuden.
The next most important event in Season 1, is when Naruto and his team are given their first C rank mission, which is actually more like a B rank mission, as they are attacked by the henchmen of a man named Gato, who are after Tazuna.

In this arc, the group fights Zabuza, a man who I’ve forgotten exactly who he is. His accomplice is Haku, a 15 year old boy who looks an awful lot like a woman. Like, y’all, I think I found the real tranny.

Sometime after their first encounter with Zabuza, Kakashi teaches his students about Chakra control, which he demonstrates by climbing a tree without his hands. Honestly, that sounds like fun, but I’d probably break both my legs trying it. He says it’ll help them defeat Zabuza.

News flash: it doesn’t help by much.

Also long story short, both Zabuza and Haku die.
(REST IN PEACE!)

~

Next event is the Chunin Exams arc, an arc that I rather enjoyed. This one introduces Gaara and his siblings, Kankuro (puppet master who *cough* uses puppets made by Sasori, as you find out in Shippuden during the Gaara retrieval arc *cough*) and Temari (the woman who goes on to marry Shikamaru in Boruto).

First we meet Kankuro, after sweet little Konohamaru accidentally runs into him, and the puppet master basically bullies the kid. If I’d been there, I would beat the crap out of Kankuro. As much as I like him as a character, especially in Shippuden, I wouldn’t hesitate to beat the absolute crap out of him if I saw him bullying a little kid.

Temari steps in, telling him to step down, but at first Kankuro doesn’t listen. It isn’t until Gaara shows up that he acts like a child who just wet his pants and is too scared to bring it up to an adult.

The exam proctors describe the exam as being too easy, but like?? I would’ve died immediately in the Forest of Death, I’m that much of an idiot.

Blah, blah, blah, Sasuke is given the Curse Mark, which gives him terrifying power. He fricking uses it to break Dosu's arms. Good God.

The one on one matches go pretty well, if you exclude Sakura v. Ino from that. That was the worst fight in anime history. It ended in a draw. Neither of them moved on.

Out of the fights of the first round, my favorites were Gaara v. Lee, and of course, Naruto v. Kiba.

There is then a month of preparation before the second round. Kakashi trains Sasuke, during which the duckbutt learns Chidori.

At first, Ebisu trains Naruto, but then Jiraiya comes in, and Naruto has to convince the perverted sage to train him. After a few attempts, Jiraiya finally agrees to do it.

Season 2:

During this time, Naruto is taught the summoning jutsu, where he signs a contract with toads. For the rest of the original series, Naruto never summons a toad except for during the fight against Gaara, who will soon give in to Shukaku. (Not to forget that he summons the toads more in Shippuden, but again, this is the Naruto review.)

I don’t feel the need to mention much of what happened in the first few episodes of season 2.

After a month has passed, the second round of one on one fights has come. Naruto fights Neji Hyuga, and for a bit, the knucklehead of a ninja was losing. But then he turns the tables, and before Naruto takes the win, we learn about Neji’s past. How he has to protect the main family because he’s part of the branch family. He reveals the mark of death on his forehead, and he seemingly lowers his guard during his story time.

After this is when Naruto takes his win, claiming that he’ll change the Hyugas.

That fight and Sasuke v. Gaara are the most remembered of all the ones in the second round. All I’ll say about the latter is Gaara takes it a little too far, and thus the fight is intervened into.
It’s during this that Orochimaru makes his move, and basically attacks the Hokage.

Another long story short, the Hokage is killed upon doing the Reaper Death Seal. I am NOT going to try to explain what that is.

While that was going on, though, Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru, and Pakkun (one of Kakashi’s summons) are going after Sasuke, who in turn is in pursuit of Gaara.

When they finally catch up, Gaara is no longer fully himself. He is half Shukaku, as shown by one side of his face. It’s a disturbing sight.

The next couple episodes show his past, and can I just quickly mention how cute Gaara as a child was? He was adorable.

As the fight goes on, Shukaku slowly takes over more of Gaara's body. This continues until Gaara does a few hand signs, that then enables Shukaku to fully take over control.

That is one funky demon, though.

I don’t want to mention what exactly happened during this part of the fight, but to get Gaara to wake up, Naruto smashes his forehead against that of the youngest sand sibling's.

~

After that is the arc where Jiraiya takes Naruto with him to search for Tsunade, who is the only candidate for the next Hokage. How Jiraiya gets Naruto to go with him? Simple, he says he’ll teach the boy a jutsu stronger than Chidori. This makes Naruto agree instantly, and then off they go.

The jutsu he learns along the way? Rasengan.

However, this arc isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s around this time that Itachi and Kisame of the Akatsuki make their move, going after Naruto. It just so happens that Sasuke gets word of this, and goes on a wild goose chase searching for the blond knucklehead that he cares enough about to go after.

By the time Sasuke finally catches up, Itachi has already found Naruto, and crap goes down. Now, the real fight between Sasuke and Itachi doesn’t happen until Shippuden, so I won’t go into that.

Season 3:
In this season, Sasuke leaves the Hidden Leaf to seek Orochimaru for strength.

Also, please note that season 3 is as far I have gotten personally, Netflix did NOT have all the episodes.

This season actually made me cry so much, I’ll explain why in a bit.

To go after Sasuke and bring him back, a group led by Shikamaru was formed. This group consisted of Kiba & Akamaru, Choji, Neji, Naruto, and Shikamaru himself, of course.

Before they left, Sakura made Naruto promise that he’d bring Sasuke back, which he did do, with a nice guy smile on his face. Extra spoiler alert, they fail to bring him back.

~

Now, to explain why this season brought me so many tears. Each member of the team stays back to fight a member of the Sound 4, who have Sasuke with them, albeit he’s unconscious.

Choji stays behind to fight Jirobo.
Neji stays back to fight Kidomaru, since he was the only one who could.
Kiba and Akamaru stay back to fight Sakon/Ukon.
Shikamaru stays behind to fight Tayuya.
Naruto is told to go ahead of them, but when he does, he is intercepted by Kimimaro, who was sent by Orochimaru directly.

In the end, each of them win their fight, but… Choji, Neji, and Kiba are in critical conditions. Each episode showing their personal fights also include a flashback or two to their pasts.  By far, Neji’s was the most emotional. Kiba's was rather cute, as it showed when he first met Akamaru.

Naruto's fight was interrupted twice, the first time by a drunk Rock Lee, who actually does a pretty good job at fighting Kimimaro. The second time was by Gaara, and he ended the fight for good.

At that time, his siblings were helping Kiba (Kankuro) and Shikamaru (Temari).

~

A few episodes later, we see Naruto about to fight Sasuke. This duckbutt gets a new hairstyle, one that makes him look like a girl. Lipstick and all. It’s quite funny when you first see his new look.

When their fight commenced, I had to look away a couple times either because I was snickering at Sasuke, or because I was scared of the outcome of the fight.

No matter how hard Naruto tried, he still ended up losing.

Where I left off was on episode 135.

Rating
This section is where I finally tell my personal opinion. Okay, first, it’s hella hilarious when you pause an episode at a perfect time where someone’s face is all messed up.

What went wrong in the animating that made this happen? Not that I mind. I do like a good laugh once in a while.

Now, I’ll tell you what I first thought of some characters.

Sasuke – why does his hair look like a duck's butt?
Naruto – a foodie and troublemaker. Half of that is me, and it’s not the foodie part.
Sakura – bro why is she so useless…
Kakashi – oh no he’s hot
Gaara – must protecc.

I did say only some, didn’t I?

Overall, the anime isn’t too shabby, though there are quite a few plot holes. Fun fact: Orochimaru has come out as genderfluid. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

The characters are lovable, the story is aight, the animation style is pretty good.

Out of 10, I’d rate the original Naruto at a solid 8.5. It has its funny moments, and more than its fair share of sad ones, but the show almost got cancelled at some point due to the high death count. That’s not a good thing.

But the memes tho… More than half of them are about Itachi. Not that I’m complaining, though. Itachi is god level.

BONUS!
I’ve decided to do a bonus that’s related to Naruto. Here’s a list of my top 15 favorite characters (and why I like them!), some of them were introduced in Shippuden, but hey, it’s still Naruto related.

1.    Deidara – Honestly, he’s hella cute. He’s also the youngest member of the Akatsuki, and I just find him really interesting. In Shippuden, his death hit me pretty hard.

2.    Shikamaru Nara – He’s lazy. He’s smart. Both qualities that I have. Most of all, he’s actually quite attractive.

3.    Minato Namikaze – What's there NOT to like about this guy? He’s hot, he was the 4th Hokage, AND he’s the father of Naruto.

4.    Kakashi Hatake – Another hot one. With his mask, he’s mysterious, but he’s also friendly.

5.    Kiba Inuzuka – He’s cute and owns a cute dog. There’s nothing to not like here.

6.    Sasori – His actual face is actually really cute. You don’t see hair that red very much. Despite how impatient he is, he’s quite a cool character.

7.    Shino Aburame – This insect loving boy deserves so much more love. He’s easily forgotten, but so was I in half in my old classes.

8.    Rock Lee – He’s obsessed with youth, but he’s so cheerful that it’s hard not to smile when he’s on the screen.

9.    Naruto Uzumaki – It’s fairly obvious why the main character of the anime is on here. And at number 9, too! It was a coincidence, I swear! He’s hyperactive, and an idiot. It’s cute.

10.    Jiraiya – He had such a big impact on Naruto's growth. While it’s hard to like a character as perverted as him, thinking of everything he’s done to help Naruto makes it easier. Plus, he looks like a L’Oreal ad.

11.    Itachi Uchiha – It’s typical for most girls to have at least one Uchiha on their list of favorite characters, but their reasoning is different from mine. They put one on their list because “they’re hot,” and while that’s true, they’re also extremely powerful. Itachi is one of those guys that can get girls without even trying (but goddammit, he’d be so much more attractive without those stress marks). The real reason he’s on my list is because he loves sweets, like I do. It’s cute.

12.    Konan – Surprise, surprise, another Akatsuki member. At first, I didn’t think much of Konan, but then she grew on me. In Shippuden, she’s actually quite badass, and I love her now.

13.    Orochimaru – Is this a surprise? I don’t know anymore. In Part I, I thought he was gross because of his tongue. But in Part II, he started growing on me, and it was just before Sasuke killed him that I realized how cool this villain really was.

14.    Sai – If I’m not mistaken, this is the fourth character on my list that was introduced in Shippuden. Did you know that Sai was designed to represent paper and ink? That’s why he’s so pale. To add to that, his main weapon is his super beast scroll thingie. To me, that’s really cool, and Sai is just a cutie.

15.    Yamato – Last but not least, the last character on my list introduced in Shippuden. Yamato was an experiment of Orochimaru's with Hashirama's cells, and he actually survived. I love the moments in the anime that he randomly turns on a flashlight aimed under his face, and it scares Team 7, or well, Team Kakashi in Shippuden, into submission. It’s quite funny.

You lost me as a friend when you decided to backstab me and choose others over me.
I was actually a loyal friend, remember when you unfriended me? That's when I realised some friendships cannot be repaired. Sometimes I wonder why Cilpay (4207b) would ruin our friendship by making lies about what I said about anything to do with you. Because truth of the matter remains. We was best friends for life. RIP Kayden & my brother and sister like friendship.

DON'T READ THIS POST IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON WATCHING BORUTO! I won't spoil much, but be warned!

okay first off: the characters.
Boruto is an angsty kid, and his name makes me think of burritos. he has mostly good intentions, but the way he goes about it, isn't what i would consider a nice way.

Sarada is determined, and at first all she wanted was to find her dad (Sasuke) to find out the truth (if she was really his and Sakura's daughter, which in the end she was. but it's funny, she looks the hell of a lot like Karin Uzumaki.) her name reminds me of the spanish word for salad (ensalada). she's cool tho.

Shikadai is literally a reincarnation of his father, Shikamaru. looks and all. the "what a drag" personality, the pineapple lookin' hairstyle, everything. he's just like me.

Mitsuki is... well... something. what them arms do, boy?

Inojin is a perfect combination of his parents, Ino and Sai. he has Ino's hair, and Sai's eyes, as well as Sai's super beast scroll. he's chill, i like him.

Iwabe is probably my favorite character, he's tough, but has trouble in the studying department.

the daddy issues club: Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki.

there's so many other characters, but i am too lazy to name all the ones with names.

second, the opening and closing. the opening is actually pretty catchy, i like it. the closing is pretty good too, it's cute.

third, the animation style is great.

fourth, the plot and story. honestly, the plot moved a little quick, at least the original Naruto and Naruto Shippuden moved along a bit slower than Boruto does. while the anime itself is pretty entertaining, the story really does move just a tad fast. it's not particularly a bad thing, but sometimes it's better to let the information sink into the watcher's brain before moving on. in this case, the watcher barely has enough time to understand what's going on in the show, it moves that fast.

i'm not too far into the show (only about in the chunin exams arc), but i know what happens during the one on one fights, though i won't spoil that for anyone who may plan on watching the show. all i'll say is that Naruto tears Boruto's headband off his head.

overall, Boruto isn't that bad of an anime, if you ignore the quickly moving story. some scenes are just downright amazing, like when Naruto and Sasuke fight together, they both have gotten so much stronger since Shippuden. another scene i wouldn't call AMAZING, but it was definitely cool, was when Himawari activated her Byakugan. the way it happened was... something... but seeing Himawari, the cute little sister of Boruto, angry enough that her Byakugan activates, is a little bit scary.

out of 10, i would rate Boruto at a solid 7. while the story is interesting, some of the characters are just copies of their parents (cough, Shikadai). also, some scenes are just repeats of what Naruto did in his childhood (such as Boruto vandalizing his dad's stone face on the Hokage mountain). it gets annoying after a while of seeing a kid drawing on the stone faces of the Hokages. HOWEVER, the anime DOES have some great things, which i already talked a little about, as to not spoil too much for people who potentially want to watch the show.

i've forgotten the password to my other account so i might as well make a new introduction...

hi my name is kayden and i'm a socially awkward weeb that likes to eat ramen and chicken nuggets. i love anime, which is typical of a weeb like me, wouldn't be one if i didn't.

i also love other things, however, such as my cats (annie, boom boom, and ed), sleeping, and being a sarcastic, salty ass at times. oh! i also love the rain.

i absolutely hate people who say that girls can't have short hair (which we can, thank you, next.), sunny days are something i can't really stand (like the sun is always so fricking bright and i can't see anything), spiders, and honestly, rude people. oh, we can't forget the people who pressure you into speaking when you're selectively mute.

as of today, i am a senior in high school. i'm honestly quite proud of myself for getting this far, it took a lot of courage and bravery that i don't even have.

i still write, but as of now, i am having intense writer's block, so i can't really produce much. unless you want my incredibly cringey naruto self-insert.

anyway, that's all i feel i can tell you about my slightly updated personality and slightly updated likes and dislikes.

please don't complain about my typing in all lowercase. lowercase letters are soft, just like me, and it's aesthetic, easy on the eyes.
