Succumbing to Evil


Eru Iluvatar is the creator of this world, the creator of the Maiar and the Valar, and also the creator of Manwe and Melkor, his sons. Manwe, Lord of Wind & Ruler of Arda, felt no lust for power and focused only on maintaining order in Arda. Melkor, on the other hand, possessed a desire for power and control. Eru knew this. In fact, Eru gave them these traits, as well as free will. Now I ask you, do you notice the parallel? By creating Manwe and Melkor, he also created good and evil, Manwe being the absolute good and Melkor the absolute evil.

Manwe had imprisoned Melkor in the Halls of Mandos after he had caused the destruction of the Lamps of Valar, the two lamps - one in the North, and the other in the South - which had provided light for the world. Manwe, being completely deprived of evil, never lied and being the absolute good, he expected others to act likewise. Melkor, on the other hand, could only lie. He was deceitful and with this trait, used others for his own good. This is the duality of the two brothers. Both were polar opposites, yin and yang.

Melkor had used his brother's naivety to his advantage and Manwe, unable to comprehend his lies and believing that Melkor had reformed, freed him.

Do you see, reader? Those rooted in evil cannot be trusted, for the only things that come out of their mouths are lies. They can bribe you, offer you power but let me warn you - be wary of your temptation. They feed off of your greed and lust for power. Do not let them consume you and dictate your life.
