Maybe a game for those who enjoy gameplay allot. In other words, make a game focused on gameplay and not so much social functions (like oldcp) ,like a fighting/MOBA game (that is still of course child friendly). I mean, you could still integrate social functions and areas where users and talk and what not, but where the main game happens is the "arena" . Users could face each other and host tournaments of games like capture the flag or similar games and when they are done fighting, they can go roam the island or spectate other users games. They can earn points based on their wins and use these points to rank up their different skills, rank on the scoreboards, challenge someone to 1v1, or participate in different game modes. It's an idea, not sure how it could integrate with your software, but hey, it could be something a little bit different, not just a reskin of a game where the main change is the "thing" the player plays as.

We Need A Better Staff
•
2nd December 2014, 11:58 PM
The problem with the current system is that the moderators are becoming bored and eventually becoming inactive. This has been a pretty common issue throughout all DSHQ games. I mean, If a moderator isn't doing their job, I feel like they should be removed and have a better trained replacement that is willing to do the job. But, the issue with removing an inactive mod is that replacement mod will eventually become no better then the previous mod and they too will stop doing their job. My guess is that the inactive moderator will probably continue to be inactive because their position is not threatened, or in other words, they have not been warned that they'll be demoted. I mean, it's pretty unfair to those who truly want the job. I feel like oldcp did the job of demoting those who weren't doing their job (heck, I could be considered one of those mods) but it defiantly struggled with getting replacement mods, hence why the staff list was CONSTANTLY changing.
What I think could solve the current issues with the staff is simply this, crack down on the moderators. I think there should be staff rules that are heavily enforced so that the moderators will take their job a little bit more seriously. I betcha the minute their job is threatened to be taken away, they'll become active and start being a helpful moderator. If rules are put in place, moderators will have to work in order to keep their position, which sounds terrible, but it'll help weed out the "lazy moderators" and keep the ones who are willing to do the job. Hopefully, in doing so and enforcing rules and essentially keeping the "mods on their toes" will create a consistent team of moderators that isn't switching every few weeks.
In my opinion, what has led to many moderators becoming inactive and overall not being good mods overall, is also the fact that they are unsure of the rules and they were never properly trained when the became mod. When I was mod, I wasn't given a handbook or rules to follow, which led to me to being unsure of what the punishments were for being inactive. I mean, I've been mod on several different games, and when I became a staff member, I was handed a handbook with all the rules and they properly trained me, so maybe I just have too high of expectations. The lack of organization (or whatever you wanna call it) in picking/training moderators on DSHQ is pretty bad and like I said, it leads to mods becoming inactive. The rules were never clear cut, there were no punishments for doing such and such. Now, don't get me wrong, the mods who go inactive aren't innocent and they are probably aware of what they are doing, I mean, they defiantly play a part in this. This is pretty similar to what I said above, but this mostly applies to new and upcoming moderators and what should be done in the future, cause boy, it's pretty casual when a moderator is picked (like, if you have good grammar you have like a 95 percent shot of becoming mod..)
So, yeah. Not only should the staff be reconsidered, but the entire training/selection process, because man, it has it's fair share of issues.
Edit: changed some weird writing mistakes. Mostly rewrote things. Guess that's what I get for writing a huge block of text at 12am.

Wow you guys are so mean. How do you think the non favorable colors feel. HUH? Didcha ever think about how yellow, magenta, neon green, white, black, puke green, gold, navy, felt? This is bullying. We must put a stop to this, fellow members of this forum. I say we conduct a revolt. This hierarchy of colors is pure madness. Ladies and gentlemen, we must fight for what is right!

National Novel Writing Month
•
15th October 2014, 05:36 PM
Hey guys,
I wanted to share with you guys (and gals) National Novel Writing Month, or nanowrimo for short.
Essentially, NaNoWriMo takes place this November and the goal of it is to try to write a novel in one month. It begins on November 1st (but you can signup beforehand), and you, the writer, will attempt to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month. Pretty amazing, huh?
If you are interested, you can go ahead and signup on the web page found at http://nanowrimo.org/dashboard
If you are younger than 13, they have an alternate site for younger users, which can be found at
http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/
I hope that you guys decide to join on in, I know I will certainly try to participate this year and reach the goal.
(Yes, you can write a fan fiction)
