Hello,
This has been something I've noticed since I've first came to DSGHQ and today too. Basically, I've seen users incorrectly writing that they were retired instead of demoted. So let me explain.
Retired
Retired by the book means:
re·tired
adjective
having left one's job and ceased to work.
"a retired teacher"
What does that mean? Let me explain. A user who retires is a user who is demoted from his job by his OWN will. The person decided himself to leave this job. I can give you an example:
(Note, this isn't meant to tease Tennis in any way)
As you heard, Tennis is no longer Royal executioner. Well, he retired from this position, as he chose from his own mind to leave from Executioner.
Moving on to demoted.
My interpretation of demoted is this:
demoted
"When one is fired from a certain position or role"
So demoted means, you were fired from your rank. Sometimes mods are fired for let's say, inactivity. That isn't retirement, that is demotion. There is a big difference which a so little amount understand.
To conclude in a few points:
Being retired and demoted are two different things
Retired is when you choose to leave from your role/job
Demotion is when you are fired from a role/job
Tennis retired!! That is just sad...
He didn't retire. He was promoted to a higher rank (administrator) than his previous one (moderator).
That is correct, but he did retire before he was promoted.

Wow, I'm pretty sure you'll be a good administrator. Most applications are sort of bland and too similar, but yours is another story.
Hope to see you as an administrator soon!
