Its a little to early to make one of these, and we have no clues, but I think I have figured ONE part out. Maybe theres a clan of fire and ice? The leader of each are iceghost and fireghost or something like that, it seems iceghost has only froze metal objects..

 Iceghost is most likely part of crimezone, crimeznoe is setup by Damen, and Damen would not allow Syrio on... Unless Damen set up SYRIO... He may have set up the whole WARLORD battle!

Just so you know, he also froze wood. Not just metal. He didn't not succeed in freezing all the metal. Good theory though. +1 Just to add on to your theory.
