Balance can change everything. The time you spend is to be used wisely. If you or I just stared at a screen all day what would we be? Nothing to say, nowhere to go, no experience. We wouldn't know how great that candy story half-way across town could be. You'll never know what a dangerous but memorable mission trip it was in Haiti. Made you realize. Made you realize what could expand your imagination, your wisdom, your creativity, your life. Your everything; all because you took the time to do something. Whether it was an awful time or an amazing one, any experience is a learning one. Life was made for balance. Balance between man and woman. Balance between business meetings and family time. Balance between our experiences. The internet might be a huge place, but without visiting something in person, that is one less thing to do; one less thing to see. If you never tried that sport you wanted to but was afraid it would lessen your computer time, you could be mistaken on how much you love that. In fact, some of the best athletes got to where they were because they focused on what they wanted; they weren't afraid to try something new such as a workout.
Sometimes being afraid can stand in our way. We try to limit what we do because something could go wrong. Limitations are an opportunity. One of those things could be meant for you. You may fail the first time, and maybe the next few times, but with practice and patience you could have your next hobby or activity which could build everlasting memories and experience. Staring at a screen will give you a blank in conversations; staring at a screen will give you joy and memories, but without balance, you'd have to go one way or the other. I was looking for a gif for a while and I finally found it. I remember this quote from the first episode of Victorious. [show] One of the main characters, Tori, was having trouble fitting in at a school. It was an extraordinary school, where people with special talents could go and express their creativity. Because Tori sang [apparently not a creative talent], she felt she was normal and had to go back to her old school. Another character, Andre, then told her:
There was another part of this quote, but I sadly couldn't find it. My point is, If you were normal without anything else to do other than be on a computer all day, you'd have no life experience. No friends to cherish. No memories to remember. No experience to gain. You wouldn't have any other life choices other than a limitation. As I have said, limitations could be an opportunity. Other times, its because you've given up and have no where else to go. the limitations didn't bring you down; you did. The main point of this discussion is balance your screen time and the outside world. If you give even a fraction of your time to experience some things, you could open new doors and even build wisdom. The more you learn, the better your experience will be, and so on. Failing may be a set-back, but the only real set-back is yourself. Without learning, you could never get to where you are today. Try, try again.

This post really got to me. I'm always on the computer all day, and my family questions it. I don't really have any friends in real life, but I should probably expand my horizons a bit more and try new things to get out there. Staying on a computer all day won't help you get anywhere in life unless you make something out of it, which is pretty hard. Maniac, amazing post. I could not have said anything you said any better. Fantastic post. This is why I limit my hours online to only 1-2 hours per day. As I always seem to say, along with many others, is you'll never know if you never try. Again, great post, Maniac, very wise.
It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities.

I come and read almost all the posts in the wisdom section usually to be surprised by the amazing wisdom of users who I wouldn't expect would deliver it. Maniac, I have always known you were a smart and experienced man, and I can confirm you are a wise man, indeed. This post really touched me on personal levels, too.
Excellent job
