Greetings DSGHQ Comrades,
This discussion is meant to inspire all of us to become better people; respectful people. I decided to post this specific discussion under Wisdom simply because the major tone of it is to teach a lesson, as this isn't your average mediocre discussion. I've made a discussion similar to this before, but it lacked a ton of information. As I've aged and became older I believe now being the way I am now, I can easily construct this discussion so not only a few but everyone can understand it. However if you find yourself having a questions, comment, or concerns don't hesitate to comment them below.
Definition: "a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements."
The Three Major Things We Respect:
1.) The people around us; - As humans we grow we learn to respect individuals. This includes appreciating whatever they want to do with there lives. Respecting the people around us is more or less accepting someones life customs. This is the major one we typically see and hear about (in our daily lives). I wont get into detail with this one as I can guaranty most of us have had lessons on this.
2.) Ourselves; - In other terms self respect. This is where we respect ourselves. We make sure we eat healthy, and make sure our bodies are healthy too. We make the proper choice that our-self will benefit from. This is more or less combined with self motivations, sportsmanship, low or high self esteem, etc. Is it bad or conceded to respect yourself? No. You should always understand who you are, and comprehend that you honor yourself and will always support your self.
3.) Environment;- or environmental respect. This is where we respect the things that surround us. Our environment is what we are use to, and we must keep it safe, clean, and going. Respecting your environment is proper in sustaining the human life. Have you ever went to NYC, and once you entered seen the garbage? Its quite disgusting and very unappealing. Whoever decided to throw there trash around is being very disrespectful towards the environment in which we live.
Story Time:
Somewhere long ago, but not to long ago in a place that may be near you: There was this kid walking down the sidewalk, he had so many books that obviously the kid was having trouble. While this kid was walking down the street to go home another kid noticed him struggling to carry these heavy books. The kid the noticed the other kid carrying the books walked across the street to ask if the kid needed help. He asked for a name; Tommy. The kids name was Tommy, and he was very shy. Quite timid as well. The kid that saw him later on said his name was Sean. Sean asked Tommy if he needed help, Tommy refused to take help at first. However, Sean didn't give up he was determined to help Tommy out. Or at least leave Tommy with a nice comment to brighten his day. At last Tommy gave in and allowed Sean to help carry his books.
Sean and Tommy soon found out that both of them only live three houses away from each other, after awhile of speaking together they noticed they had so much things in common. Such as a love for video games. Sean asked Tommy to come over to his house after Tommy got finished unpacking his books. [skip a few moments] -- Tommy goes to Sean's house. Tommy is feeling very good now that he has a friend, someone who understands him. Sean then asked a simple question: "Why were you carrying all your books? Tommy replied: "I was planning on leaving." Sean said confused: "But we just met, now you're saying you are moving! Tommy replied with a smile: "No, I was planning to kill myself. I packed everything and was walking home to do it. -- [cut to the end].
^This story is deep. It started off like a typical story of two friends, but turned into so much more. You see how being respectful can literally change someone, or even save someone? The next time you see someone in need, don't hesitate to make the easy action of speaking with them. You can make a friend, and save a friend by doing the respectful thing. ^

What Is Respect?
As you watched the above video it was obvious that you noticed not many people knew what to say at first. Respect is such a simple word, no? Well actually its a complex word, a big word, a word that means so many things. Everyone has their own meaning/definition of respect. My definition may vary from your definition, and that's completely fine. However together if we combine everything we say into one massive definition the moral story couldn't be any clearer.
Concluding || Project
Instead of having an average boring conclusion I'd like to make this a bit interesting. If any of you have read my discussions that are to motivate you, you can see that I sometimes like ending with a project. Last discussion I made on motivation was about bullying and how it can affect someone. In that project you had to tear someone apart, and see how hard it was to put someone who was hurt back together. If you'd like to try the experiment the link is: http://damenspike.com/view/49480/ . Please follow the instructions below, thank you.
Instructions: -
1. Think long and hard of a definition for the word "respect."
2. Come up with your own definition for the word.
3. Make an ACROSTIC POEM for the word R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
My Example:
Definition: Respect, respect is when you have the consciousness to appreciate the people around you, it is when you take something else above your own life.
Acrostic Poem:
R- Realism
E- Enthusiasm
S- Subtle
P- Positive
E- Enthusiasm (x2)
C- Caring
T- Trust
Please take the time to do this easy experiment/survey... or whatever you'd like to call it. I want to read over the comments and see how different our minds think alike. I'll take everyone's definition and make it into a massive definition after. Thank you for participating, and I hope you enjoyed this discussions. Questions, comments, concerns? Ask!
Thank you,

Concluding || Project

I'll take everyone's definition and make it into a massive definition after. Thank you for participating, and I hope you enjoyed this discussions. Questions, comments, concerns? Ask!
Thank you,
-Sadie
