Thankful

I'm really late to the Forums Closing party but I thought I'd say some words to show my thanks to Damen and all those who I befriended since 2016
Personally, if I had to think back to the time I had the most fun, it would've either been the 2016 CZ era (with the pirates) or any large event like GOM or IAPGMOOH (I'm a Penguin Get Me Out of Here)
Here's a small gem I found within my archives that are collecting dust. Back when we used Skype before Discord even existed holy molyyyy
But yeah I hope I never upset anyone along the way. I know I don't talk to many of you anymore but just know that my life has been going well and I hope the same is for you. Thanks again

art contest entry + updates
•
4th September 2021, 04:57 PM
Hey all, it's Pablo. I heard the word "art" from a mile away and that there was a contest running, so above is my entry of a corgi I drew recently! I know I haven't been involved in this community for a while now (for good reasons of course) so I just wanted share some things in hopes to inspire one of you guys scrolling through. I've been working like crazy building connections in the art world with all sorts of well known developers/artists. Mostly through Twitter and workshops. So much so that one of my drawings surfaced and blew up like crazy. All I can say is that it takes drive, commitment and a whole lot of time to prosper in life so please.....don't waste it and go out there and do something you enjoy.
I hope you've all been well. Lots of cool submissions!

Clearing the air is something a lot of people have to do here in the DSGHQ. Everyone needs to set their differences aside and sort out what you need to with someone while you still have the chance to. 2021 shouldn't be the year to hold grudges with everything far worse going on around the world.

It's crazy how much you've improved in 3D design Terry! I remember you telling me in September that you got inspired learning from a Youtube video and now look at these creations you're putting out!

Sunglasses
WHEN I OPENED my eyes, they were torched by the sun and I started seeing floating spots after blinking repeatedly. I rubbed them, stood up from my bed and glanced at the mirror - only to find myself hating how I look more each day. I have curly hair, light brown eyes and a nose longer than Squidward's. I brushed my teeth and went on with my day.
The walk to school wasn’t that long, considering I had an extra four wheels attached to some plywood moving me onward. It only took me a second to realize that someone was sitting on a bench no one would dare to sit on - only because the wood on it was deteriorating as we speak. I saw the silhouette of the backside of a girl wearing a sunhat holding what looked like a stick or cane of some sort. I didn’t think too much about it and my attention quickly shifted to a group of kids rumbling to get onto the school bus.
After I sat at my desk, the teacher said we had a new student in class and what do you know? In, walked a girl with a sunhat and introduced herself saying her name was Charlotte. She placed her hat next to my skateboard and sat down at her desk. But there was something strange about her. Sure, I won’t deny that it was scorching hot outside, but after 10 minutes into the lecture, she never took off her sunglasses. With half of the room already with the lights off and the curtains slightly shut, I figured it was already dim enough but I found it weird that she would leave them on.
School ended with me packing up my bag with some leftover snacks my friend gave me. Then I heard a sudden click on the floor and saw a pair of sunglasses land beside me. “Could you pick those up for me?” I turned around, looked up and saw Charlotte covering the top of her face with her entire arm. I wondered why she just didn’t reach for them herself but thought that maybe she was trying to hide something on her face. I gave them to her and she quickly turned around to put them on. “Hi I’m Wilbur” I said. I thought about what I was going to say next - whether I was going to ask her why she sat on the decaying bench this morning or why she wore her sunglasses the entire class. Both were stupid questions but before I could get a word out, she was already out the door. On my way back home, I made a pitstop to the warehouse and used the spare change in my pocket to purchase some cheap wooden boards. I went to that same bench and decided to salvage what was left of it with the new materials I bought.
Early next morning, I began my routine by taking my dog out in my backyard. I looked over the fence and could see Charlotte sitting on the bench so I decided to approach her. “Like the new bench?” I asked proudly. “Did you fix it?” she asked. I nodded but after an awkward silence, she said, “Well if it was you, I’m very grateful.” With the sun still having to rise, I thought it was appropriate to ask her why she was still wearing her sunglasses. "Isn't it too early to be wearing your sunglasses?" She replied, “You see, I was born blind. But I like coming here to see the sunrise.” Maybe I was too young to understand it so I scratched my head saying, “But if you can’t see, how would you know when the sun is rising?” She giggled saying, “I like to imagine it." And just like that, the sun started to rise.

Apology

Had you written an apology with this 1 sentence instead,
...that would’ve been enough for everyone.
Let it be known that
-You and Carly were the only two people who liked one of the recently taken down discussions (Kill All Men) which was heavily inappropriate.
-You created a discussion (called OldCP Bombing) just to irrelevantly call out someone for demotion?
-You stand by/vouch for someone who bullied Terry for being deaf?
-There’s a difference between bringing up what happened in the past and always acting like your past self.
You would be surprised how many Staff and users are fed up by what you two have been doing lately. Given several chances, just to totally ruin it for others who are denied that same privilege. On top of that, Idc if you two are veterans - when all you've done is paint a bad picture for the genuinely good ones.
I’m all for positivity and leaving on a good note but frankly, I can’t find any in this after seeing it all. Get your act together.

Hello DSGHQ,
Sorry for posting on behalf of Carly’s empty apologies and I will no longer continue to flood her negative influence onto this community because I know better than to do that.
Sincerely,
Cate

Can we break this chain?

CoolLloyd wrote on 12th April 2020, 01:41 AM:
Another reason for this decision is the community itself. I have said this before and I will say it again: people here do not feel as they're part of a community, we all lack a sense of collectiveness.
"We all lack a sense of collectiveness." - Former GMW Lloyd
After seeing what has gone down today, the ONLY sense of collectiveness you guys exceed in showing is when you spread hate onto one another, especially when it's targeted at Damen.
People need to understand that Damen having to address every single request he gets is like a ratio of 1 person : 10+ requests ongoing. Being a 'Game Developer' is his life ambition and you guys are treating it as if he's a vending machine giving out food. Taking 0 accountability for his tiredness, mood swings and life experiences.
I find even as an artist, when people ask me to do a commission for them, I have to put them on hold until I finish a previous drawing and as Damen has said in his video, its hard to deny someone. You guys are literally what is supposed to keep him going.
You wanna know why people give up? You wanna know why those people with the quotes above quit? Because of h-a-t-e. I guarantee every user who has quit including myself, has mentioned stress in their posts and its merely because the community is always highlighting someone's flaws. It was so childish the amount of people I saw disliking Damen's post and Eugee's post (THAT WAS ABOUT POSITIVITY) over something that could easily be adjusted. Hate just leads to more hate.
Years from now, you guys will come face to face with the feeling of putting your all into something, only to get harshly put down for its imperfections. Take my word, because I go through it all the time in every art critique I have. The feeling hurts! It lasts for hours, days even!
That brings me to the question in the title, can you change? Your attitudes and DSGHQ experiences with a person aside? Break this chain of resorting to negativity and treat someone like a human being for once? If you can't put up with it on here, then all I've got to say is good luck in the real world!

Feeling Tired
•
26th May 2020, 07:47 PM
I have been feeling extremely exhausted lately and I don't see myself wanting to feel like this anymore. I've let a lot of time pass by without acknowledging it. A simple "How's your day going?" is all I wanted to hear from people but I always had to be the one to do it. Having to live that cycle everyday makes me feel more distant. I think its time that I move on from the DSGHQ Community and focus on the big things in life to see where that will take me.
