Although snaildom replacing oldcp wouldn't be terrible, oldcp has years worth of history and has a lot that snaildom doesn't have. OldCP is running out of time regardless of this situation, eventually it would've had to be download-only anyways. Flash is history and nobody sensible will download an .exe to play a 15 yr old game. Not to mention that it isn't legal, just because the game has a lot of custom artwork doesn't mean it's not Club Penguin, it's literally called Old Club Penguin. The codebase, logo and brand belongs to Disney. There is no way OldCP can "become legal" unless it was renamed and recreated from scratch.
I don't think OldCP is worth investing any more time into just because it's had a rich history, how many games have survived this long? If Club Penguin itself can't do it then surely a copy isn't going to do that much better. CPR which is CPO's direct competitor has apparently received DMCAs as well, if CPR isn't tolerated by Disney then OldCP doesn't stand a chance.
While it's smart to take the website off and make the game download-only to avoid DMCAs, I don't think it's worth it in my opinion. Creating a unique game from scratch gives Damen a lot more creative freedom to do whatever he wants and with no legal trouble. The only issue is promoting it which I think is what Damen's games have struggled with for a long time. I think time is very crucial and an important element because if Damen was to ever replace Club Penguin with his own game, there would be no better time than now when all CPPS are shutting down. If an alternative project ever worked out then it'd be much better for Damen than OldCP has ever been.
I feel like everyone should move on from OldCP and stop being obsessive over something that was fresh 7 years ago. Yes, it has had a rich history and it was a great game at one point but the community's inability to move on is why every game that isn't OldCP was never able to take off in the same way OldCP did, nobody is giving them the chance. This is just my opinion, it's really frustrating how amazing games like Snaildom and Penguin3D were never able to overtake OldCP despite them being much better material to work on.

Key words: in its prime. The way it is now, and has been for years now, is everything has to go through Damen to implement. Some sort of user interaction like this would be great, but I'm skeptical that it would actually do anything unless something fundamentally changes. What would a "bridge between users and administration" do that we don't already have via the Admin Contact Server, etc.?
