I see what you mean, but all of these things have been commands already (minus the ban reason), and they never have caused trouble in the past. Yeah, some people might brag about their IDs and stuff like that, but I've never got a report where a user wants someone being punished for anything like that.

Now for the banning reason, it's not aimed towards the actual user who was banned. It's more for moderators so that they know how this specific user got banned. It could help us decide when we should unban the user. Plus, many users have complained that they have been banned for no reason, so this is the chance to see why they actually have been banned.

Now that I think about it, the ban reason really should just be private to only staff members, and maybe the ID, but I honestly don't see too much of a problem with the others.

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, or good night, everyone.

Today I thought of a really useful command... again. This time I thought of one that should be called the /search command .

Basically, the search command is a way to search for players in the game. All you would have to type in is '/search Sting' or '/search R2D2' (or any other username).

This command would show the following about the user:
• Username
• ID
• Date joined
• Online or Offline
• If they are online, what room they're in (this wouldn't apply to people with ranks).
• Banned or not
• If banned, the reason why they're banned

As you can see, this command could be VERY useful. We could get rid of other commands and just put it all into one. It's also a very informative command.

Also, you may be wondering why I put "If banned, the reason why they're banned". This is another command idea I have, and I'm sure other people have thought about it. I think when a moderator bans a user, they have to give a reason why. This can help moderators find why some people are banned, and help decide when they should be unbanned.

All the moderator would have to do is ban the user, and then a blue box appears. That's where you would type in the reason.

Here's some pictures that show what these commands do:
Here's what the search command could look like.
Here's what the 'ban reason' box could look like.

Hey, maybe these commands will be added, thanks for reading.

Alright, thanks for reporting. Unfortunately I had to get out of bed to deal with this, but it doesn't matter.

This is great! People may say it's too short, but length doesn't matter if it's a good application. I wish you luck on becoming knight.

Wow, this is a pretty sweet idea. Probably my favorite idea, actually. I'm sure we could all store some great secrets and memories in those. Hmm, maybe I'll apply for one of the priests.

Posted in Reputation Points Idea • 17th January 2015, 09:36 PM

Good morning, afternoon, evening, or night, everyone.

Today I was thinking about stuff that could improve the forums, and I came up with something.

I propose the idea of knowing how many reputation points you have given to others. This is very similar to knowing how many reputation points you have earned.

It's pretty self-explanatory, but I'll explain it anyway. Basically, if you "like" a post, it'll add to your reputation points given total. The amount would be right below the amount of reputation points gained, and it could possibly be in a blue box(?) instead of green. Dislikes will not decrease the total.

This could show who the active users who read the discussions are, but honestly, this really is going to show how caring and kind this community is. Unfortunately, I do believe that some people will start "like bombing" to increase their total, so I don't think there should be any kinds of achievements or badges for giving likes.

Thanks for reading.

Posted in Steps to Earning Moderator • 31st December 2014, 02:00 PM

Hey everyone.

I've decided to make a simple guide about how you can try to earn moderator on OldCP. I've made one of these before, but I'd like to expand upon what I've mentioned before. I have even more experience as a moderator, so I think it'd be right if I made another guide.

1. Have good grammar... to a certain extent

Having good grammar is a key thing to becoming a moderator. You need to be able to be understood and type correctly. Your grammar doesn't need to be perfect, but it can't be awful.

Acceptable grammar example:
this is a fine way of typing things and is acceptable if you want to be a moderator

Unacceptable grammar example:

dis iz a bad way uf tieping thngs wen ur a modortator

Those were two examples of good and bad grammar. Like I said, you don't need perfect grammar, so that's why I made the acceptable example have a few mistakes. As long as you're understood, you're good.

2. Participate in events

OldCP is known for having a lot of events such as the Game of Mods, roleplay, Dingo Dongo challenges, etc. Always try to participate in these things. You'll get well-known, make more friends, and maybe people will recommend you for a rank. Plus, they're fun.

3. Always help others

Helping others is always a good thing to do. New users might want help with commands or getting clothes. Older users might have questions that you might know yourself. Even if you don't know some of the questions that are asked, you can always tell them to try asking a moderator or a knowledgeable person. Not only could you help them on OldCP itself, you could also make helpful OldCP related discussions on the forums. These could be guides, reviews of events, or even reports.

4. Always be honest

Always being honest is a great thing. Some users often lie about their age because they don't think they're old enough to become a moderator. It's okay if you're younger, you can still become a moderator. We've had plenty of younger mods in the past. Be honest about reports, too. If you saw a user breaking the rules, make sure you don't stretch the truth, and tell the mods or admins everything. Honesty will give you a good reputation.

5. Enjoy the game

Remember that OldCP is still a game, and you can still have fun. Having fun will lead to making new friends, and those friends might just recommend you for becoming a moderator like I've previously said.

6. Have patience

Some users think you can become a moderator the first day you join. It's possible..., but it's incredibly unlikely. It's better if you're patient and continue following the steps I've mentioned above. Earning moderator may take weeks, months, perhaps even years for some people, so you'll need to be very patient.

So those are pretty much all my steps. I hope they help you if you're trying to become a moderator. Thanks for reading.

The staff during the old days weren't very trustworthy at times, so it was probably removed because of abusing.

I'm afraid you didn't read my entire post. I mentioned why it could be used over the summon command and who could use it.

I like it. Maybe to add on, when you say
/magnet (username), whenever you move around, they come with you.
And you could have a command saying /stopmagnet (username)

That was actually a command too, believe it or not. I wouldn't mind seeing that again.
