I myself once pondered about this idea as well. I never understood many of the elements that is contained in modern-day OldCP. Looking back at it now, the reason OldCP has been around for many years is due to the current success. It has been rebuilt many times but still maintains majority, if not all, of the community on here today. The success is heavily dependent the features of the actual game which seems to be pleasing to many. There have been many Club Penguin servers that have attempted to recreate the original that have come and gone, and sure, while that may give a nostalgic feeling for many, people always prefer more to do when it comes to keeping up with the game. I can say what current OldCP comprises of is unique indeed, and while personally I couldn't grasp the concept, I respect the activity and effort kept in maintaining its goal of keeping the nostalgic CP feeling while adding this new content. Creating a new version of OldCP would be ambiguous, and really there wouldn't be a point when the closest you can get is the actual game itself.

What a good suggestion would be to move the product forward is to incorporate more old elements of CP rather than just making an entirely new version. The theme wouldn't ever change, but it can look more appealing to those who prefer the more simplistic look like me. New players would struggle to understand anything that is going on if they aren't a member of the forums, which can be worked on as well, but that's just a suggestion since I am incorporating my own opinions in this post as well.

tl;dr I wouldn't count on an "actual" OldCP version soon. They can make changes to the current game to improve the feeling, however.

Ah, the best part was always the community. Especially during the early stages of the game, playing mini-games and hanging out in the shells was fun. I was particularity surprised with the popularity it once held, and the actual longevity of it for some time. Lots to be said here including its predecessor which not many I presume know about anymore. It was a game beloved by many, and if you were once a fan of the game you may be interested in a hidden archive dedicated to SD/SC that I once maintained several years ago: http://secretrsnail.wordpress.com
Good to see it is still remembered, though.

We need to advertise. No videos of the Snails Chat re-opening and game play has been up on YouTube since 2013.

Yes, that is a good start. But what we need is the support from Damen himself. We need to bring Damen's attention to this thread, quickly. This game needs attention bad, and he is probably the only one people are going to believe and with the help of promotion it still isn't too late. More people need to hear our message.

Nobody ever plays snailschat. And its like a town with tumbleweeds now.

That type of attitude isn't going to change anything. Saying "nobody" is a false claim, because I play it. So people, just because you think nobody plays means that you will stop also? What ever happened to advertising? This is exactly what caused SC to die the first time round. Now I am trying to do something about it before my favorite game closes down again.

Hello, I am Halo. You might have seen me around SC before. Today as the title suggests, I want to discuss the future of Snailschat. Most of us know already that SC is back up and has been for the past month. We also know that there may not be any more updates to the game as well, we get that. But because I care about this game so much, I think this deserved a topic. I cannot stress enough how good of a game this is and that it has so much potential but yet it has never lived up to it. After SC opened back up, it began gaining more new users, but as the week went by they steadily declined to the point where I login to seeing this everyday:

So my question is, why was everyone so excited about it opening again if they are only going to play once, and never again? What's the point? Sure, the game may not have as much in it, but what is stopping us to help improve that? In my eyes, I see this "OldCP" now as the dominant factor. It's what everyone is running to. Why, because you are knight and whatever? Is that what Club Penguin originally intended to be, let alone OLD CP? I don't see it entirely as the problem, but at least some of the fanbase can still actively play Snailschat too, there's nothing wrong with that.

Anyways, as I speak for myself as one of the only active users, what is in store for the future of the best game in DSGHQ? I am writing this topic because I think it is definitely needed and I really care about the game. Why bother bringing it back if there's nothing to do with it? What do you guys think?

Hello! Today we will be talking about Badges in Snailschat. But first, if you haven't done so already please read the tutorial by Kara in this section of the forums first. Now that you've gotten an idea about SC, what next? Let's talk about Badges. Badges are like collectible pins (like on CP) that you can collect and it will show up on your playercard. Well, chances are if you have been snailing enough you might have recognize snails with icons on their playercard like this:

Today's tutorial will show you how to get all three of these badges, since they are currently the only ones obtainable. You might have seen players with more than that, because they are old users and got badges from when Snailschat had originally opened. Here's all the badges that in the game that we know of so far:

Now that you have enough info about Badges and the game, we can get started obtaining our badges:

1) Shopping Badge -
You can find this badge easily inside the Snail Market, then clicking on the cash register.

2) 1 Badge-
This one is a bit tricky. First, go to the room where the lounge and Snail Feed is. Next, see the N in "Snail Feed"? Your goal is to click on the bottom of that N, and should receive the badge. (Click exactly where the circle is in the picture)

3) 2 Badge-
This is the last obtainable badge. This one is also takes a bit to get. Go to the same room where the lounge and Snail Feed is. See the Shellfall sign? You have the click exactly between the "s" and "h" in the sign to get this badge. It will take more than one click, so keep trying until you get it.

That is the end of our tutorial for badges. Please leave a like if this guide has helped you or if you already have these badges. My blog, http://secretrsnail.wordpress.com has all the latest cheats and we will put more tutorials like these on the site. Thank you for reading and I hope this has helped you. Have a question? Ask!

-Halo

Posted in Snailschat! [for Damen] • 28th August 2015, 04:08 PM

Greetings, I wanted to message Damen about this privately, but since I have no mail access and everyone is posting about SC here, I will just go ahead and post mine as well:

Hello! Allow me to re-introduce myself. You guys might not remember me, but I am Haloplayer2k. I've been with this community ever since the start [2013] from the starting days of Snailschat. After the closing of SC, I went inactive for a while until I discovered this forum that was opened up later on in 2014, which is where I eventually heard about Snaildom. I just wanted to say personally that I am thrilled that Snailschat is coming back up (just logged on and found about it) and I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to you sir (Damen). Now, I'm also not sure if you remember, but I was also a mod on your game before you reset everyone way back then, but that is not the point. What I'm trying to say is, I'm really looking forward to the beta testing of SC and if you ever need anyone to help you out with the support team or something again, I'll be glad to hop on aboard with you, just like old times! What do you say? Thanks for your time, and happy anniversary to the DSGHQ empire!

-Halo

(I edited some parts to make it seem I was directing it to the whole community, but others can just ignore this post or just ask me questions, this message was intended for Damen personally.)

Let's go back into the time traveling machine back to 2013. In my opinion, I have still have no idea why Snailschat closed. To create Snaildom, which no one still plays? SC was a successful game, and even though it wasn't as popular as the Snaildom prime days a few months back was because our community wasn't as a whole yet. I know SC is just a downgrade from Snaildom, but look whats happened. The problem is we aren't putting in as much effort to support these games and the lack of updates makes it even more worse. Don't get me wrong, Snaildom is a very excellent game, but it just cannot compare to the glory days of SC. The community has grown a bunch since the creation of these forums and I believe with everyone's support we can get it back up and running.

Posted in Accepting PW Applications! • 18th January 2015, 09:20 AM

Application: Penguin Watch

Age: 17

Oldcp Name: Haloplayer2k

What will you do as a PW Brother?

I will be on the watch at all times making sure the rules are enforced and also to make sure everyone is getting along safely, for example, to keep someone from being bullied or to stop a harmful argument.

Will you abuse as a PW Brother?

Never shall I do such a thing, as I will take this responsibility very seriously in the lord of Damen's name.

Why do you think you are right for the job?

I am active every day, I am very social and secretive, I was a former SC moderator, and I also believe I can take this job seriously and will do anything to meet the needs of doing so.

Will you leak your identity to anyone? Never.

I will always keep my identity a secret no matter what.

Will you respect your fellow Brothers and Captains?

Always. I am a very respectable person, and I always listen to what my peer members have to say. Brothers and Captains will always come first in the duty, so they are my priority.
