Whether or not someone is able to forgive another person can say a lot about their character. The ability to forgive is a great thing to possess. It is so important and necessary to our lives that it is even one of our community values.
Quote:
Forgiveness
We forgive one another when we're sorry for things we've done.

If you are truly sorry about something you have done, a true friend will be willing to forgive you no matter what. If they do not forgive you or are just in general unwilling to even try to forgive you, they are not a true friend. I do believe that in order for someone to be forgiven, they must be trying to change their actions for the better and to avoid causing such a situation again in the first place. You cannot always just say that you are sorry and expect that to make everything right again, without action, your words may be empty. This is especially true if you have made the same mistake multiple times.

It is not worthwhile to be around someone who is not willing to forgive you for your mistakes. While it may hurt, it might be within your best interest to prune off those people from your social tree. While doing this, you should not be rude or mean towards these people. Just be civil with them, being openly hostile with them will just make matters worse for you in the present and may ruin your odds of ever having a friendly relationship with this person in the future. Being civil with them may help them to take a better view of you and cause them to change their opinion of you in a positive way. Being civil with people also falls under one of our community values.
Quote:
Peace and Mercy
We value peace above all desire to argue, fight and gossip. We want peace even if we haven't done anything wrong.

I did not intend for this post to be about the community values but the values of Forgiveness and Peace and Mercy fit so well together. They do indeed go hand in hand. Often when people can't forgive one another, there tends to be much more drama than there should be particularly in public. It is never fun to be involved in such a scandal.

The community could learn a lot from this post. Some people have learned to forgive and forget but others choose to hold a grudge against something that happened years ago. Thank you for writing this.

I like this post because it is somewhat relatable. As Bailey said, I hope the community can learn from this discussion.
