I would like to talk about bullying and how some people (those who have quit, or those who are still active in this community) consider the DSGHQ to be toxic, or the people at least.

Chelsey made a discussion called 'paraphrased paradox', and to summarize it, she basically stated that people can be attention obsessed and it influences them to go against the community values. She later on explains that despite whatever environment your surrounded in, always follow the community values.

I had done a little research into the past and found a post in 2015 made by @imdaboss (Lylance). The point of having rules. There's a reason for everything, and as explained in Damen's video (shown above) and Lylance's post, there is a point to these rules.

Why can't we swear?



Some people think it's because there are younger kids who play the game, but this isn't really the case anymore. As the years went by, these kids grew up. We all know everyone here swears, just not on OldCP or on the forums, so why can't we swear on here? In my opinion, it's to keep the community sane, making it less toxic. If people could swear, some would take that to their advantage. It would result in a toxic environment where everyone is cussing out and insulting each other, and in the end, the community wouldn't be enjoyable.

Swearing could also lead to bullying (as other things could). A lot of the DSGHQ members started playing OldCP when they were young, and in Lylance's post, he addresses that bullying someone could teach them that it's an OK behavior, and so the victim would also start bullying others, letting a chain of this behavior to begin.

I think we all need to learn to respect each other and our perspectives. I feel as though, because we come from different backgrounds, it is sometimes difficult to accept certain beliefs or ways of behavior, but we all need to be able to respect these things. Otherwise, the community will continue to be a toxic environment. I'm not saying the community is toxic at the moment, but there were times (as we all know) when some members of the DSGHQ would get out of control.

Some people behave a certain way to get attention, others just want purpose.

I would like to talk about one scenario that occurred between certain people and myself.

I was at a really low point in life and I was relying on the internet a little too much. I would pull all-nighters days in a row, affecting my mental and physical health. What I was doing during the late hours of the night and the early hours of the morning? OldCP, discord, YouTube, Roblox (yes, I know. Come at me.) and whatever I could find to distract myself. I was also extremely reliant on my friends. There was this one girl that I used to hate, but we eventually got closer. We had video calls and we'd prank some people online. There was one night we're we took it a little too far.

I can't exactly remember what I had done, but I had broken a rule, and a staff member punished me for it. It was a reasonable punishment, I am sure, but at the time I was angry. This girl I talked to persuaded me into arguing with this staff member, and we took it a little too far. I was on voice call with this girl, so she told me what to say (because I am a big chicken, and too dumb to come up with insults). We had insulted this person way too many times to the point where they had to bring their friends into it.

I remember, their friends, at first, were calm about it, but again, me and my ‘friend’ were too worked up that I had insulted them as well. I had written a discussion on the forums, calling out one of the staff member’s friends, and it led to me getting banned. It was very reasonable. Funny thing is, me and this girl stopped talking because she thought I was bullying her, when all I did was called her out for manipulating me.

But the point is, I was so keen on gaining a new friend that in the end I had lost a couple more friends.

This goes to show that an obsession with whatever it may be; ranks, roles (in CZ), or overall status, can lead people to doing bad things.

So if you find yourself obsessing over OldCP, whether it’s to get a new rank or not, it’s suggested (by Damen himself) that you leave for a while; and when you feel like you can control yourself, you can return. It takes a lot of responsibility, and a lot of self-control. Even if you're not obsessing over OldCP, it could be other things.

Get a dose of reality once in while. It’s good for you.

anyone can stay calm in a pressured situation, the debate is if they actually want to. if he, or anyone else in the same position as him, cannot handle the pressure, then they shouldn't be allowed to be a certain rank, such as administrator. i am 100% sure the administrator rank holds a lot of responsibility, and we need to accept that not everyone is suited for that type of pressure.

now back to this paradox chain. i would like to say what i have seen in myself over the past five years.

i used to be innocent. very, very innocent. people have told me i was always kind and i never initiated arguments / fights. when i joined oldcp, i was only nine years old, like a lot of us here. that's pretty young. and over the course of five years, people normally would grow up, and not particularly in a good or bad way. i certainly have grown since i was nine, but the question of "if it was for better or worse", there's no answer for that. we're all still growing, trying to discover who we are.

in that case, i think oldcp had impacted us. nobody's 'lives' were ruined, because if that were the case, you wouldn't be making a post whether or not oldcp had ruined your life. hell, you wouldn't be viewing this discussion right now.
