Experience Builds Wisdom
•
30th July 2015, 12:36 PM
Balance can change everything. The time you spend is to be used wisely. If you or I just stared at a screen all day what would we be? Nothing to say, nowhere to go, no experience. We wouldn't know how great that candy story half-way across town could be. You'll never know what a dangerous but memorable mission trip it was in Haiti. Made you realize. Made you realize what could expand your imagination, your wisdom, your creativity, your life. Your everything; all because you took the time to do something. Whether it was an awful time or an amazing one, any experience is a learning one. Life was made for balance. Balance between man and woman. Balance between business meetings and family time. Balance between our experiences. The internet might be a huge place, but without visiting something in person, that is one less thing to do; one less thing to see. If you never tried that sport you wanted to but was afraid it would lessen your computer time, you could be mistaken on how much you love that. In fact, some of the best athletes got to where they were because they focused on what they wanted; they weren't afraid to try something new such as a workout.
Sometimes being afraid can stand in our way. We try to limit what we do because something could go wrong. Limitations are an opportunity. One of those things could be meant for you. You may fail the first time, and maybe the next few times, but with practice and patience you could have your next hobby or activity which could build everlasting memories and experience. Staring at a screen will give you a blank in conversations; staring at a screen will give you joy and memories, but without balance, you'd have to go one way or the other. I was looking for a gif for a while and I finally found it. I remember this quote from the first episode of Victorious. [show] One of the main characters, Tori, was having trouble fitting in at a school. It was an extraordinary school, where people with special talents could go and express their creativity. Because Tori sang [apparently not a creative talent], she felt she was normal and had to go back to her old school. Another character, Andre, then told her:
There was another part of this quote, but I sadly couldn't find it. My point is, If you were normal without anything else to do other than be on a computer all day, you'd have no life experience. No friends to cherish. No memories to remember. No experience to gain. You wouldn't have any other life choices other than a limitation. As I have said, limitations could be an opportunity. Other times, its because you've given up and have no where else to go. the limitations didn't bring you down; you did. The main point of this discussion is balance your screen time and the outside world. If you give even a fraction of your time to experience some things, you could open new doors and even build wisdom. The more you learn, the better your experience will be, and so on. Failing may be a set-back, but the only real set-back is yourself. Without learning, you could never get to where you are today. Try, try again.

[NEW]: WORLD CHAMPION!
•
30th July 2015, 11:59 AM
Amazing new system! Although, some of the top members [such as the top 4] have gotten player of the day at least 5 times. Other times, you would need to have already made thousands of posts PLUS for the ones who doubled their reputation would have gotten thousands of more points. Overall, all is fair in game and war! This will be an interesting new addition to see who stays on top, and surely this will rile up some new competitive spirit. This is a fun new addition to achieve DSGHQ World Champion, which not only involves skill, but attentiveness and creativity. I can't wait to see competitors give it their all. Good luck everyone!

Whatever the case is, as long as it isn't out of anger I'd be fine with that. Sometimes we feel we want to quit because sometimes things are tough; this is exactly like bullying at school. [not to get visual or anything] Bullies at school can make some people go to the brink of anger, to the point where suicidal thoughts occur. Of course, this is nothing like what you are dealing with; but sometimes even if you do have the time to resolve it the problem seems better leaving it at that. I understand if you'd like to go, because this is your choice. But if you feel you could come back and try to fix what has been damaged, go right ahead. My point is, in a lash of anger, sometimes people of the DSGHQ feel they have the need to quit, in which case this is just their emotions getting the better of them. They then come back in reviving their state of mind. If you really cannot stay active on OldCp, I'll understand that. If its for any other reason, I suggest you stay and resolve this. Anywho, if you really are leaving goodbye one last time, and I'd love for you to visit every once in a while just to see the likes of you. Bye now; as your journey continues, your path will expand and change direction. Remember; if there's a will, there's a way.

Suggestion: Saving Drafts @Forums
•
30th July 2015, 11:05 AM
Hey there! Here's an idea I would like to suggest which I feel most anyone would want/need. This is saving drafts on the Forums. This has been suggested multiple times, I believe 3-4 if you search draft. This is not an original idea, but I have always wanted something like this and recently I've been needing it.
Alright, so because I'm a News Reporter, I have to make news reports which take time to make. In the past 2 weeks, I had a build-up of news, and I couldn't write it all in one day. To finish it, I would either have to leave my computer on overnight and have the program running [which could be dangerous] or save it to drafts. On the OldCp Blog, there is a 'save draft' which means you can save at any time. Saving drafts would be especially useful for the following:
Heck, saving drafts could be useful for anyone. If you're in need of a reliable way to save your post/discussion without it disappearing, this would be the best method for anyone on the Forums. Another things I've noticed is that sometimes after making a long post, it stops and doesn't finish creating the post. I then lose all progress, which wastes my time. But, if I could save my post before I post it, if anything goes wrong I can just bring the post back up and do it again.
The 'Save Draft' button would go after preview, and when you save it you'll be able to access these to the right with a button called 'All Drafts'. This is where you can find all the drafts you have ever saved. You would be able to delete drafts if you'd like to have a clear 'inbox'.
In conclusion, I am suggesting a 'Save Draft' button, an 'All Draft' button, and a place where you can delete saved drafts. Thanks for reading, and hopefully this suggestion will be added because it could be of much use to me or anyone else on the Forums in need of this. Bye now!

Bug: 15th Post On A Discussion Missing
•
28th July 2015, 07:12 PM
Hey there! Over the past few weeks I have noticed 14 posts on a page of discussions rather than 15. A few days ago I made a post; the 15th on a single discussion. Because of this, the 15th one went missing. Anything after that was still there, meaning the 16th, 17th, 18th, and so on. I believe it is every 15th post on a single discussion goes missing.
I'm not sure why this happens, but in my opinion it is rather a big deal. I'm not completely sure if it is the 15th post, for I have also seen this happen to me at random times. The only logical explanation I can think of is that when you post a reply while being the 15th to post on that discussion, the 15th post is mixed up with the coding of the reply box. Of course I know nothing about coding, and this is probably majorly incorrect. Whatever the case is, I would like it to be fixed.
Up until now I noticed that on multiple posts, old and new, there are 14 posts on each page for a discussion. This leads me to believe that it could be at random times that this happens. It could be in fact that maybe posts sometimes disappear randomly, but I don't know what happens. I would like this looked into, whether I have it completely wrong or I'm just onto something. Bye now!

Inactivity [Destin Beach]
•
13th July 2015, 09:14 PM
Hey there! Alright, starting 7/14/15 [July 14th], I'll be on vacation with my family. This will include PenguinDSC aswell. We'll be on vacation to Destin Beach, Florida until Saturday, July 18th 2015.
Here's my problem. My dad's laptop is broken currently, and my sister won't let me use hers. I somehow lost my tablet so I cannot get on that, so my only hope is that around once a day for a few minutes I can get on the hotel computer. Other than that, I will not be able to come in any other contact with the DSGHQ.
I won't be able to get on until the 19th, but until then I'll be enjoying the summer waves and sand in my feet. If anything goes on while I'm gone, I would love if one of you messaged me all the details or invite me to a post I'd probably need to know about. Have a nice week guys; I'll try to be on whenever I can. Bye now!

Spreadsheet: Major Changes [Staff Please Read]
•
13th July 2015, 09:04 PM
Finally! This is exactly what me and many other Moderators were looking for. The spreadsheet to be benefiting our community instead of being a bother to us Moderators. I believe that is truly reasonable, and I believe this new spreadsheet will work out great with our Moderators. It is a fair amount of hours, plus this will only be telling Administrators who is consistently inactive instead of punishing Moderators for being a few hours short of the required hours like Roberto has done to us many times. Thank you and all the Administrators for settling this out, this will truly impact our community greatly.

Kopi is correct; because of the new rule, rookies can no longer use links, videos, or images. Although its alright if he can't, people can still copy his link and see it on their own.

Moderator Competition Stage 3 [Finale]
•
12th July 2015, 08:11 PM
In this stage, every time you get a point, it will be worth 300. There will be 7 tasks; 5 will be for teams and 2 for the finalists. The finalists will work hard in the last 2 tasks and the best of the best will be chosen to become a new DSGHQ Moderator. Lets get to it then!
[No one really took perfect count of the money because of countless orders for each team. The teams were valued by the opinion of the Staff Members.]
Team Kacket advertised at the Pizza Parlor aswell as serving hungry customers. They had classy music and entertainment and loads of customers. They got around 9 from the Staff Members.
Team Topaz had a business called topaz bbq at jr chex. They had service and rides together and got around an 8/10 from the Staff Members.
Team Glory was at jr coffee hosting a bake sale serving things like cupcakes, brownies, cookies, scones, and more. They got around 6 from the Staff Members.
Team Fireworks had a Fashion Contest at jr movie. They earned money by having an entree fee of $100. They got about 8 from the Staff Members.
The winner of this stage was Kacket.
The objective of this is to basically take over a base. Damen will use global to tell which team to attack which team. They will then attempt to overtake another base using their 'weapons' and tactics to win. Below I will show you which base belonged to who and who's base was attacked by who.
Kacket's base was the Iceberg.
Firework's base was the Forest. The first to attack the Firework's base was Topaz. Glory was next in line to attack the Firework's lovely base.
Topaz's base was the beach.
Glory's base was the Dojo. Kacket was told to invade the dojo.
This task was interesting, but there was nothing really to say. There was lots of fighting and defense for all teams, but sadly not all teams got to really invade each other.
Team Glory: They advertised their bakery with a bit that goes like this: "Are you hungry for a low calorie snack? Well then try one of our 10 calorie cakes! They are delicious and are good for you. Try one of our cakes today!"
Team Kacket: They started lovely with a battle screech. Here is the description to one of their acts: Sled started out with selling cupcakes. Cornbread gladly took one. She took a bite out of it. She exclaimed, "YUMMM!! This tastes great!" with some extra advertisement for their kacket products.
Team Fireworks: Their commercial was about a basketball game. Lebron shoots, and scores. He shows his armpit and many fans and teammates faint. They wake up to tell Lebron that he needs to use Penguin Deo. "Penguin Deo is only $9.95, maybe you should get some" Lebron replies with, "Woah! Smell it! This smells amazing!!"
Team Topaz: They advertised their BBQ with a friendly manner with phrases like, "Bathing suits are only $5!" and "Burgers are only 50 cents!" Plus, their hot dogs and other foods are made by celebrities who actually sign the food.
The winner of this task was Topaz.
Team Glory did a sports broadcast. They talked about multiple sports and other things.
Kacket had a band with pop rock.
Topaz did a radio show at jr movie with dancing and music plus a little interview with Ariana Grande.
Fireworks had a party at the Night Club with DJ Bailey and Bakon.
In this task, Kacket won.
This means that after this task, there will be no more teams. People will individually attempt to earn Moderator in the last two tasks.
Topaz interviewed Jesse and Cheep. Here is a picture of their interview.
Kacket interviewed Sadie. Here's some pictures.
Fireworks interviewed Saber and Cyberwolf. Here's some pictures.
Glory interviewed Swirlie. I unfortunately didn't get any pictures, but they probably did a fine job. The teams interviewed more Moderators, but I didn't have time to see them and take pictures.

Bakon
Angi
Mckinlee
Courtney6
Cornbread
EllieMae
Rosie
Audrey
Jake01
Sammeh
Each finalist was interviewed by staff members and royals for two minutes. The staff member gave them a question and in their best interpretation the finalist would answer it. They were given points by the staff on how great they did. The people who weren't online were Rosie, EllieMae, and Jake01.
This is a classic stage for almost all Moderator Competitions. They are are extremely fun to watch and very entertaining. These people were given specific jobs in the Pizza Parlor.
Manager: Angi
Head Chef: Mckinlee
Head of Orders: Cornbread
All others became waiters and waitresses. Their goal was to earn $5000. Here are some pictures that took place during the final task.
This was the final task. The staff members now count up the finalists' points and last judgements of all contestants. The top 5 will receive a price in gold. Here are the scores.
Sammeh is in 5th place with a final score of 15900.
Angi is in 4th place with a final score of 21300.
Mckinlee is in 3rd with a final score of 23200.
Courtney6 is in 2nd with a whopping score of 31200.
This leaves Cornbread with 1st place with 39200!
Cornbread or better known as Tori has won the 2015 Summer Game of Mods. She is a Moderator that has not served the DSGHQ, but now has the chance to serve us well. I'm so glad she became our new Moderator, and congratulations to everyone in the Top 10. For everyone who participated I congratulate you aswell because you guys gave it your best effort. Thanks for competing in this Summer's Game of Mods, I hope you had a fun time. Bye now!

Moderator Competition Stage 2
•
11th July 2015, 07:07 PM
Hey there! Today, the 2nd stage of the 12th Moderator Competition was held. I will be showing you pictures from the tasks, the winners of each task, specifics from each task, the winner of the stage, etc.
Task 1: Name 4 main qualities you believe a Moderator should have.
The winner of this task was Topaz. They were the only one that said a Moderator should be active; a quality needed to bring the best out of Moderators.
After Task 1, Kara was given a golden name for being the best leader, and points are now worth 200 instead of 100.
Topaz practiced some Kung-fu at the dojo.
Fireworks had a few Damenball games.
Kacket played some hockey at the Ice Rink.
Glory surfed at the Cove.
Wolfes didn't participate in this task; they only watched Fireworks play their beloved Damenball.
Team Glory: Their idea of a category was a category about OldCp memories. A category to post about old clothing and igloos etc.
Team Kacket: Their idea was a music category. Members can access this category, and in here you can post music you like, links, and basically share music interests.
Team Fireworks: Their idea was a clothing Category. You can post outfits you like, recommendations for clothing; things like that. Everyone can post in it.
Team Wolf: Their idea was a rank category. This category would be for demotions/promotions, recommendations, about some ranks, etc.
Team Topaz: Their idea was a programming category. You could put in how-tos, coding help, some samples of your own coding, games you made, etc.
The winner of this task was Topaz.

The winner of this task was Topaz.
This one is a classic task which has held a place in almost every (if not every) Moderator Competition.
Team Glory made an oval at the Cove. Sadly, they didn't have a picture of their shape.
Team Fireworks made an X at the Iceberg. Here's how their shape turned out.
Team Topaz made a T for Topaz at the Dojo. Here is their shape.
Team Kacket made a heart at jr kara. Here is how their shape turned out.
Team Wolf didn't seem to show up. I believe it was because they didn't have enough members to create a shape.
After this, Damen announced that Team Wolf is out of the competition. This also means that Jeff has been fired out of the competition.
Team Glory did a movie about basketball. It was about a game; the red and blue team was competing against each other. In the end, the Red team won 5-2.
Team Kacket's movie was about a dysfunctional family. Kara was the director and Mckinlee was the camera lady. The main bit of the movie was about the family not getting along very well.
Team Firework's movie was about 2 penguins getting stranded on an iceberg. Bailey was the director, Bakon was the producer, and Frebbly (Freddy) was the main cameraman. Basically the main plot of the movie was them trying to survive a sinking iceberg.
Team Topaz's film was a horror movie. A little girl buys a cursed doll despite people cautioning her not to. The doll led the girl to much chaos.
In the middle of the task, Damen told us that you need advertisers to raise $1000. Each student pays $50 to go to a class. In order to reach their goal, a team must have 20 students paying $50 each.
Each school had to have graduates; the ones that excelled most in class. The ones who graduated got to party it up at jr partridge. All the graduates came up to the podium, were congratulated, and some even gave speeches. Here were the results for how much each team made.
Team Glory earned $800 at jr night.
Team Kacket made $850 at jr kara.
Team Topaz made $1000 at jr ava.
Team Fireworks earned $1100 at jr school.
Topaz is the winner with 9 points out of all the stages so far. Team Kacket follows by 8 points. Fireworks has 6 points, and Glory has 2 points. Aswell as this, Angi now has the golden nc.
Tomorrow is the last stage of the competition for both the mini Mod Competition and the regular Mod Competition. Today was fun, and hopefully you enjoyed too. Bye now!

Bye now!

Well, it used to be 10 per post, then 5 per post, then 2 per post, and then it was removed altogether because people were making spam accounts + they were spamming posts on their main account to get loads of gold. Although this is a good idea, the major flaw in itself is that some people will almost always find a loophole/cheat the system to make it simpler or easier for themselves. Its a good idea, but I just don't think it could or should happen again.

The Retirement of The Fire

Makes sense and doesn't make sense. First of all, you're a Djinn aswell. You would most likely to be able to protect yourself; aswell as that Damen can revive you anytime he'd like. (As like Dancebear II or something) That just does not add up; but I understand that if you/Damen feel it is for safety measures, then that is your choice. If you are worried that the Fire may kill you in-game, maybe you should find some more healers/legendary healers that can be entrusted to heal people like you. Or I suggest getting a guard which is fully human. Good luck on whatever choice you make.

Hey there! I finally hit 3000 reputation, which is a huge deal to me. In fact, just recently I've gotten my reputation:posts ratio tripled! (basically meaning I have three times as much rep as posts) I'd like to thank all of you for believing in me and supporting me by liking my posts. You guys mean the world to me and are a big part of me whether virtual or not. I like to take things slow and gradual, but once I do something I feel well accomplished. Thanks again guys; I love you!

That has been happening for months now; I'm not sure if it will get fixed or if it is possible to be fixed, but I don't think it would be too much of a problem. It seems that it is only certain people, like for me it is Jake01, Bailey, and a few other people. This isn't a major problem but would be good to fix.
As Maniac said, this has been going on ever since NC has been added to the DSGHQ. I think it only happens to ppl with both NC and NG.

Ahh, so that is what caused it. I knew it had something to do with NC, but I think I know what causes it. Zeternal said it was caused because of NC and NG, but there is one in specific that causes this. It is Rainbow Glow, which makes your name look 3-D basically. The home-screen cannot handle the 3-D effect of Rainbow Glow, so for people like Bailey and Jake01 who use this add-on, it will show their text as bigger because the coding cannot respond to the Rainbow Glow. As I said, I'm not sure this is fully correct, but it is the most logical answer at the moment.

Maniac's News #3

Hey there! I promised a news report on Thursday, but I wanted to wait for some things such as the Gold Competition of House Drake. At the end if you have any concerns or if you would like to give me a new name for my News Report, feel free to comment below.
Gold Comp
Friday night there was a Gold Competition which was funded by the Imperial Bank and House Drake. There were two teams big enough to compete, and these were Fireworks and Wizards. There were 7 tasks. In random order, the tasks were riddles, to make a nose out of penguins, run the coffee shop, who can make the best perfume, a damenball game, comedy performance, and a dance competition. Here were the results for all the tasks:
Riddles - Wizards
Nose Out Of Penguins - Fireworks
Running The Coffee Shop - Fireworks
Best Perfume - Tie
Damenball - Wizards
Comedy Performance - Fireworks
Dance Competition - Fireworks
The winner of the gold competition was Fireworks. Fireworks was led by Bailey, who got 500 for best leader. Fireworks shared 5000 gold and the runner-up team, Wizards, shared 2000. Congrats to both teams.
Cheese For Everyone - Sacrifice
Last week, there was a new sacrifice made. This was Cheese for Everyone. Basically, you lose your ability to change your picture for a week + you have a weird comical picture replaced with the one you currently have. The picture stays for a week, but you get double gold earnings for a month. This includes making discussions and I believe includes level bonuses; all gold earnings except for transferring gold to another.
Forums Updates/New Additions
There were many things added this week, such as our new Forums Rookie system. If you have 40 reputation, you will automatically get Member. Also, rookies will now not be able to use [ img ] or [ video ], and cannot comment on moods or link anything.
Some of our current level badges have been changed. This includes gray boxes behind your level badge for certain levels, brighter circles on some, and a few color changes to others. Aswell as this, silver stars were created. If you have had a Forums account for over 18 months, (1 1/2 years) you will receive a silver star on the bottom right of your level badge. Here is an example of mine:
