The Forest

What is The Forest?

The Forest is a group of people who are affiliated with the good side. It consists of all kinds of people such as Forest Lords and Ladies, Forest Princes and Princess, Elves, and Humans. They value peace and love and follow Nameless One. They stand against evil and its corrupting and abusive nature.

Early Forest

In the beginning of the existence of the Forest, it was ran by Orome, a Forest Lord who was called the Lord of the Forest, and his wife, Vana, who had much love for all things in nature. The Forest was strongest in The North, which had peace while it was under the rule of Orome and his wife. The people were content and their problems were all solved through the infinite wisdom of their lord.

Over time, the forest kingdom and its people amassed a great wealth. For this great wealth, Orome had a treasury founded that was hidden underground through a complex maze system. This treasury was called ‘Gold City’, and in it resided forest people who were bankers and guardians of the city.

A New Lord

As Orome grew older, he desired to pass along his lordship over the forest and its people. The question that plagued him was who should he give it to? Obviously, it would go to one of his children, but which one was the most worthy to lead such a kingdom?

Eventually Orome would reach a conclusion. Once his eldest daughter Melody was wedded to Mairon Annatar (Pythas), he became so overjoyed that he proclaimed them to be the new Lord and Lady of the Forest. And so they became lord and lady and Pythas had left his evil ways in the past. Or so he thought...

Downfall

The Forest remained strong in the North for many ages but it would be brought to its knees after Orome was betrayed by his own son, Raegon.

Raegon’s Betrayal

Raegon had been persuaded by the spirit of Melkor to kill Melody, which greatly enraged Mairon. Mairon was lead to believe that Orome had killed Melody out of spite and so he hunted down the old man, killing forest women and children along the way.

Pythas Mislead

Pythas did find Orome that very night. They battled before the gates of the Gold City. Pythas came out victorious and locked Orome within the city. Orome cried out and tried to reason with the evil maia but with no avail. Pythas was convinced that Orome was lying to him. So he sealed the gates of the Gold City with a curse, locking Orome inside along with a number of other forest people who had taken refuge there.

Maria Turns

There was more than just Pythas that desired to damage the Forest and its reputation. On the night of Pythas’ return to evil, Maria joined up with him. She still desired him for herself. He offered to marry her. Initially Maria accepted this offer though found that she was unable to go through with marrying him and decided just to serve him. Maria thus created a great order of witches that would spread across Arda. They would manipulate everyone they could and curse those whom they could not.

Melody’s Ugly Side

Melody also turned to evil. She was enraged by her brother’s betrayal and to make matters even worse, she could no longer assume a beautiful form. Melody thus became an ice queen and created an army of Ice Ghosts, which terrorized The South until their destruction.

Formation of Djinns

Even some of those who were locked inside of the Gold City with Orome fell to darkness. A number of forest people became insane after eons of being trapped in the darkness of those caves. Those became djinns and haunt the caverns to this day.

Return

Despite being severely weakened, the Forest was never truly destroyed. Some forest people remained though the majority of them went into hiding. Over time, they came to be seen as villains and a people to be feared and killed. Indeed, some of the remaining forest people became involved in some very nefarious deeds and were closely woven in with the story of the Ice Ghosts.
Initially when the forest people started to come out of hiding, they were considered to be criminals and many of them were trialed and executed just for their forest affiliation.

Structure

The Forest has many different titles for its assorted ‘ranks.’ The Forest titles include: Shaman, Prophet/Prophetess, Warrior, and Forest Person.

Shaman

The Shaman is the leader of the people of the Forest. The Shaman typically has golden antlers to denote their high status. There have been many different shamans throughout the history of the Forest.

Prophet/Prophetess

Prophets and Prophetesses are those who are gifted with foresight. They are able to make prophecies and are often spoken to by the Spirit of the People of the Forest. Sometimes even Nameless One himself will communicate directly to a prophet, though this is a rare occurrence.

Prophets typically wear robes and antlers. Sometimes they are given forest prophet weapons such as the prophet dagger, prophet sword, and prophet saber.

Warrior

Forest Warriors are just that, warriors who protect the Forest and its people.

Forest Warriors are typically very powerful and have been trained in the ways of the force. It is common for a forest warrior to have force push and a force attack such as forest fire, regular fire, or lightning.

Forest Person

A forest person is just a typical member of the forest. They are usually seen wearing antlers. Important forest people are sometimes given Golden Antlers to denote their importance.

Location

Initially, what is considered to be the Forest and its people were only located in The North. Over time, it began to spread throughout all forests on Arda. There was a Forest stronghold in The South for quite some time but it has since moved from the land and relocated onto the holy land of Achto.
